CLERICSThe influence of the gods and goddesses is strong on LODOSS and their most devout followers are rewarded with the ability to cast spells. Clerics of good like ETO and NEESE have powers to heal and protect whilst evil clerics like VAGNARD have great powers of destruction.
HYURIThis is a special kind of fire spirit that can posses people. When possessed the individual acts as normal but when they get mad the spirit takes over and the person flies into a great unstoppable rage. People possessed in this way are called berserkers, ORSON is possessed by a Hyuri and only his friend SHERIS can calm him down. Berserkers are usually lonely individuals. People stay away because they are scared they will get hurt in the blinding rages which cause the person to lose all reason.
Those of Elven blood have the power to call upon the spirits that inhabit nature and the various spirit worlds. Both DEEDLIT and PIROTESSA use this ability during the series. There are many types of spirits of light wind and even sleep which can give an ELF an viscous arsenal.
Capable of casting spells of power, wizards spend large amounts of time studying old tomes to find the right chants and gestures to release the great power. The greatest Wizards lived in the magical kingdom which was destroyed 500 years ago sending the island into a long dark age from which it is only just waking up. WORT, SLAYN and KARLA are all wizards.
In a land as magical as LODOSS it is expected that sometimes items will be imbued with magical essence. Many WIZARDS and CLERICS carry such items and they are very valuable. AT the end of the magical kingdom 500 years ago the last ruler cast a great spell which forced the last 5 great dragons to guard the five greatest magical treasures of the age to prevent them falling into the wrong hands.
SOUL CRUSHERAlso known as the Daemon Sword of MARMO this is the magical sword wielded by BELD which he took when he defeated the Daemon King with the other six heroes, its evil magic corrupting him. Whoever can wield the Deamon Sword rules MARMO.
RACES OF LODOSS WAR Apart from humans the land of LODOSS is home to many fantastic races.Dragons are great winged reptiles that live in the fantastic world of LODOSS the kingdom of MOSS uses smaller dragons as mounts and larger ones live in the many ruins and wild-lands in the uninhabited parts of LODOSS.
DRAGONS, GREAT:There are five great dragons in LODOSS, they are the most powerful creatures anywhere and are exceedingly ancient. they can sleep for decades without waking but they can be terrible indeed when roused, three of the DRAGONS are evil whilst two are good.
BURAMUDO:Dragon of ice, Buramudo lives on White Dragon mountain in the north-east of LODOSS. He guards the mirror of truth that will answer any question the owner asks.
EIBRA:Dragon of Water, This evil water dragon lives of the coast near the free city of RAIDEN. He protects the Crystal ball of souls that can return a dead soul to its body.
MAISEN:Dragon of Gold this good dragon lives in the kingdom of MOSS which he helped its founder create. His treasure is the staff of life which can heal all injuries and disease.
NARSE:Dragon of Blackness, Narse rests under the dark Temple on the island of MARMO he guards the Ferroniere of knowledge said to contain all the wisdom of ages past.
SHOOTING STAR:Dragon of fire, Shooting star is a violent man-eating dragon that lives in Fire mountain on the borders between FLAIM and RAIDEN it often starts on a campaign of terror that the northern kingdoms dread. It’s hoard contains the staff of command that gives the owner control of any living being.
DWARVES:The greatest miners of metals and gems are undoubtedly the Dwarves. Few in number, since the last king of the Lost Kingdom of stone fell 30 years ago there have been no great dwarven kingdoms.
ELVESThese magical and immortal peoples are capable of great good and great evil they do not for the most part get involved in the afairs of humans.
ELVES (DARK):These sinister creatures posses the beauty of good elves but with an evil disposition and cruel and cunning intelligence. Their role in the armies of MARMO caused all elves to get a bad name.
ELVES (HIGH):The true elves these graceful people live in the FOREST OF NO RETURN and for the most part keep themselves to themselves every now and then one leaves their homeland to wander around the island skilled in swordsmanship and magic they may appear slight but can be deadly.
GOBLINS:These small ugly dirty creatures are scattered throughout LODOSS but most live in MARMO where they make up large chunks of the army they are often lead by DARK ELVES and fight alongside KOBOLDS and OGRES.
KOBOLDS:These hyena headed creatures form the bulk of the low ranking soldiers of MARMO they are quick and fight in packs alongside the inferior GOBLINS without leadership they are cowardly and stupid.
OGRES:The largest and most powerful of the monsters in BELDS army they are thankfully rare and stupid. However in battle they can take down many more skilled opponents with their superior strength.
