"Welcome to AltScore for VGAPlanets. This is a host utility that gives alternate scoring for the game. This scoring mechanism is very easy to use.AltScore was created for the Italian Vga Planets fans, and tested in some games."
[From AltScore 2.02 docs]
Why another scoring system?
First of all, because "classic" (built-in) Vga Planets scoring system is far too inaccurate in giving an idea of the real strenght of a race.AltScore, on the other side, uses a method of point calculation (see formulas) which is much more reliable from this point of view.
Besides, it can do a turn-to-turn comparison to help highlight growth or decline of a given race, and to sense the outcome of battles even when they are fought far away from our borders. Here is an example of what AltScore can display:
--------------------------------- CUT HERE --------------------------------- Turn is #53 (compared with turn #52) STAR WAR CARGO RACE SCORE PLANETS BASES SHIPS SHIPS Robotic 9776(+267) 95(+ 1) 14(+ 0) 84(+ 2) 35(+ 0) Crystalline 7273(+646) 99(+ 1) 19(+ 0) 65(+ 2) 20(+ 0) Fascist 6096(+ 4) 52(+ 0) 14(+ 0) 57(+ 1) 25(+ 0) Lizard 5903(+251) 40(+ 3) 9(+ 1) 61(+ 0) 13(+ 0) Colonial 5121(+155) 25(+ 0) 4(+ 0) 45(- 1) 2(+ 0) Fed 3335(+225) 38(+ 2) 8(+ 2) 19(+ 1) 5(+ 0) Empire 3001(- 26) 29(- 2) 16(- 1) 16(+ 0) 7(+ 0) Bird Man 2941(-103) 22(+ 0) 12(+ 1) 20(- 1) 6(- 1) Rebel 1436(-163) 42(+ 0) 2(+ 0) 12(- 2) 0(+ 0) Privateer 1161(+ 24) 17(- 2) 4(+ 2) 4(+ 0) 4(- 1) --------------------------------- CUT HERE ---------------------------------
Is there any team support?
Sure, but it is still in beta testing. A companion program, called "AlstTeam", can be run right after AltScore to produce an output like this:------------------------------------ CUT HERE ------------------------------------ Team Score for turn n. 53 ------------------------- STAR WAR CARGO RACES SCORE PLANETS BASES SHIPS SHIPS Fas/Rob 15872 147 28 141 60 Col/Liz 11024 65 13 106 15 Fed/Cry 10608 137 27 84 25 Reb/Bir 4377 64 14 32 6 Pri/Emp 4162 46 20 20 11 ------------------------------------ CUT HERE ------------------------------------
Here is explained how AltScore makes its point calculation:
- PLANETS/BASES
- Minerals (exclude Neutronium) / 1000 - Number of Beams * BeamTechlevel (1 * Laser = 1 points) Starbase defense increase planet defense and techlevel - 1 point for each Planet and StarBase fighter - If Starbase if present: Engine techlevel * 5 (5 to 50 points) Hull techlevel * 5 (5 to 50 points) Beam techlevel * 5 (5 to 50 points) Torpedo techlevel * 5 (5 to 50 points) - Starbase damage / 2 (10% damage = -5 points) - Happiness: every % under 100% -1 point (only with /H switch)- SHIPS
- 1 point for Hull techlevel (1 to 10) - Number of engine * EngineTechlevel (2 engine tech 9 give 18 points) - ((Number of Torps * Number of Tubes) * TorpTechlevel) * 0.10 ((100 torp * 10 tubes) * mark8) * 0.10 = 100 points - (Number of fighters * Num of Bays) * 0.01 (100 fighters * 10 bays) * 0.01 = 100 points - Number of Beams * BeamTechlevel (10 * H.Phaser = 100 points) - Decrease points: Damage * 0.1 (10% damage = -1 point)
