Staff Training
There are training activities within all of the prisons designed for prison guards, officers, and other staff, the purpose of which is to increase understanding of the drug problem and how it effects the drug addict. Technical training in such areas as Urinalysis, the assessment process, etc. is given to the appropriate staff in order to improve staff effectiveness.
Dissemination of Information Among Prisoners
The Israel Prison Service conducts educational classes about drugs and their effects on the addict or abuser as part of an effort to reach as many prisoners as possible. All prisoners are encouraged to participate in these classes upon their arrival in prison. These classes also provide information regarding various treatment programs available within IPS and the referral system available to the prisoners.
