You climb up the rungs and onto the top of the submarine and then climb back down inside it. You are herded by men in green uniforms into a small compartment with a few other people. You all sit silently. You can almost hear their hearts pounding, and you wonder if they can hear yours.
Soon, you feel your heart plummet as the submarine submerges. It does this silently, without horns and sirens. Now you seem to feel motion. The submarine is underway. Now you're committed.
"I wish I'd taken a longer look," says a woman sitting on the floor against the wall. "Who knows if we'll ever see it again."
"Having second thoughts?" says a weaselly-looking man. The woman gives him a sharp look.
"Of course not," she snaps. No one says anything else for hours.
Just when you've been wondering if you'll be able to eat or sleep, you feel the submarine stop. The men in green uniforms come back and direct your group back up the rungs. As you emerge from the submarine, you gasp! You're in an undersea city!
A huge glass dome covers the city, and you can see that the ocean is pressing in as black as night. The submarine has surfaced through a hole in the floor of the glass enclosure. You wonder briefly why the water doesn't surge up and fill this bubble, drowning everyone.
You don't have time to goggle around you too much, though. Up ahead is a checkpoint. Men in green uniforms are searching people as they come off the submarine. You don't want to be stopped with your pockets full of spy equipment. You slip out of the line of people and into an area where cargo is being unloaded.
You wedge yourself into a pile of rope and take a deep breath to clear your mind. This is without doubt the headquarters for the international terrorist group. They are planning something big--world destruction? It seems likely. What should you do?
Your first thought is to get help. You can contact governments from all over the world to put a stop to this group's plans. To do that, you'll need to escape this undersea city and get back to dry land.
On the other hand, time seems to be running out. Maybe you should take action. You look at the glass dome that protects the city from the deadly weight of the ocean. Perhaps you could find a way to destroy the undersea city.
