Vaestrael is the name given to the militant God worshipped by the
Knightly Orders of the Holy Nations on the fragment Rhynne. To
His worshippers He is the personification of Honour and Valour
incarnate, seeing over the Blessed Wars constantly raging against
the minions of the Dread Land.
The physical manifestation of Vaestrael appears as a handsome man
of tall build and proud stature. The exact specifics of his
appearance differ with the Orders of Knighthood - the Gendians
see him likened to their image with a bushy beard and long rangy
hair, the Delphians see him as an immaculately kept beautiful
individual, with proud, regal features. In all cases, however,
Vaestrael always appears wearing His Armour of Brilliance. This
+5 full plate armour is magically kept in perfect condition - it
always shines magnificently, and any dents are instantly,
magically removed. Furthermore, if any evil being were to gaze
upon it, The emanating brilliance would rend them forever blind,
"blessing" the evil-doer to never again see their-acts of
treachery.
In His left arm Vaestrael bares the shield Kell'arien (Death
- ward), a +5 item infused with massive energies from the
positive material plane, such that any creature drawing power
from the negative material plane will be banished back there (or
destroyed outright if lesser undead) upon touch.
In His right hand is the feared weapon Aullurach
(Judgement). This +5 vorpal longsword is virtually
indestructible, and the only weapon blessed enough to grace
Vaestrael's person. Aullurach is the likeness unto which all the
Holy Avengers created on the Worlds are based. Against any
creature with evil intent in their heart it becomes a +10 weapon.
Furthermore, Aullurach is magicked to be able to read a being's
soul, and telepathically communicate to Vaestrael all the evil it
sees therein. Thus, any being not pure of heart that approaches
Vaestrael is judged for their actions, and sentenced with Devine
Vengeance thusly.
Vaestrael blesses his followers not only by giving them
Paladin abilities, but He strengthens them further with
spell-casting abilities at first level. Thus Paladins of
Vaestrael may learn spells as a cleric of equivalent level.
However, the Knights may only pray to Him for renewed spells once
a week - this takes place on Vaestrael's holy day, Vaestron (the
8th day of the week). However, Vaestrael's judgement passes
heavily on His followers also. Any breach of one's Code of
Honour is judged harshly, and Paladinhood is often revoked,
without warning. Such individuals stripped of their Knighthood
often seek the counsel of Vaestrael's High Priests, and after
much praying and renewed demonstration of virtue the repenting
individual is often readmitted into the Iron Fold.
