Ruler's Title: Coordinator of the Draconis Combine, Duke of Luthien, Unifier of Worlds

History:
The Draconis Combine was founded in 2319 by Shiro Kurita through a long brutal military campaign. Shiro Kurita was a brilliant tactician and strategist, an accomplished statesman, and a ruthless conqueror.

Raised in a military and social traditions centuries old, Shiro embraced and embodied the "way of the warrior." He forged an alliance of petty kings and lords and later marshaled a modest military in a brilliant war that built up the rest of the territory that makes up the Draconis Combine.

After his death in 2348, his legacy continues to modern times in military tradition and the selfreliance of its people. These factors have contributed to the constant bgelligerence of Kuita patriarchs. Only rarly do they set aside their dominant tendencies in favor of alliance or cooperation. However, the next generation usually made up for it by redoubling it's military nature. The two most outstanding examples were Hehiro and Minoru Kurita.

Hehiro, in a rare display of trust, signed the Treaty of Vega in 2569, which set the terms of the Draconis Combine's membership in the Star League. His son almost undid this act through flagrant violations to this treaty. After Kerensky's exodus, Minoru Kurita proclaimed himself the First Lord and executed a massive attack against the Federated Suns. After an assassin killed him, his son Jinjiro massacred 50 million civilians, which destroyed their military momentum and alienated House Steiner.

Until Rasalhague became independent in 3034, the Combine had expanded to border the Lyran Commonwealth, absorbing lesser states along the way. For 20 years, the Free Rasalhague Republic served as a buffer state between these two Great Houses. Now the wedge the Clans have carved, serves as the buffer zone.

At present, the Combine consists of about 75 wourlds. Though the Draconis Combine lost more than 50 worlds in the Fourth Succession War, the same conflict saw the brilliant rise of Theodore Kurita. His unconventional tactics were so successful that he earned the support and confidence of most of the military. In spite of the power struggle that this caused between Takashi and Theodore, Takashi was forced to name his son Deputy of Military Affairs in 3030. Theodore took this opportunity to reshape the military. His strategy successfully resisted the Federated Commonwealth's massive invasion in the War of 3039.

Theodore also saw the wisdom of recognizing the Free Rasalhague Republic, which created a buffer state between the Combine and the Lyran commonwealth. This freed up troops to cover the Davion border. Aside from just freeing up troops, Comstar helped rearm the Combine's military because of this agreement.

Though Takashi and Theodore had many disagreements during the years, Theodore's successes and support from the military were undeniable. Some old-liners still oppose these new innovations, but the Takashi seems to have made peace since Theodore's successes against the Clans.

When Takashi Kurita died in 3054, his son Theodore became Coordinator. This changing of the guards brought many new things into the Combine. Aside from the ban on mercenaries, the old feud with the Dragoons have ended. The Combine and the Federated Commonwealth have had a truce that might be prove stronger because of the aid they gave eachother during the Clan invasion. Theodore's son, Hohiro, have become close to the Federated Commonwealth's ruler, Victor Steiner-Davion. Aside from that, Omi Kurita, Theodore's daughter, is rumored to be the romantic interest of Victor Steiner-Davion. All this helps build up the Combine for the renewed Clan attack after the 15 year Truce ends.

In recent events, the Combine shows it's ability and intentions to the Inner Sphere during the Chaos March uprisings and the invasion by the Jade Falcons. The Combine sent in peace keeping troops into the Chaos March to help settle things down in that region. They also sent in a group to help fight the Jade Falcons when they attacked.
