History:
When Prince Hanse Davion and Archon-Designate Melissa Steiner married (on August 20, 3028), the Federated Commonwealth became a reality. As a wedding toast, Hanse Davion said, "Here, my love, I give you the Capellan Confederation." This began a surprise attack on Capellan worlds and the Fourth Succession War. Before the end of this war, the Federated Commonwealth added more than 100 worlds from House Liao.
The Draconis Combine was also dealt with through this union. When the two states merged, the Draconis Combine had to spread its resources along two fronts. Even with the two fronts, the Draconis Combine was still able to gain 15 worlds during the Fourth Succession War from House Davion.
When the Clans attacked, the rivalry between Davion and Kurita quickly evaporated to deal with this external threat. Several unofficial sources goes so far as to say that there is a relationship building between Victor Steiner-Davion and Theodore Kurita's daughter Omi.
With the truce imposed on the Clans, the Inner Sphere has started fighting among themselves. One of the worst is the rift in the Federated Commonwealth. Victor's sister, Kathrine "Katrina" Steiner-Davion has taken the Lyran side and left the Federated Commonwealth a bit after the assasination of Melissa Steiner.
Aside from the loss of worlds from the split, the Capellan Confederation and the Free Worlds League have invaded and taken several worlds. This also led to many worlds in the areas attacked to claim independance. This area of space have now become known as The Chaos March.
