Packing

We send alot of figures in the mail for the painting service, in addition to doing a bit of trading on Bartertown, so thought this might be a good 'public service' page. I know I have recieved some very poorly packed figures that arrive in the mail smashed up, dented, broken, and even lost through a hole in the box! Remember, that just becuase one isn't trading/buying/selling in person, it doesn't mean that its ok to just throw everything haphazardly in a box.

While we have recieved some nice feedback, specifically complimenting the packing job, it is still always a good idea to insure parcels in the mail, just in case disaster happens.

Here's one method I use for packing figures to send through the mail. The example uses 15mm figures, with multiple figures on a base, but it is essentially the same thing I do with single and multiple based 25mm figures as well.

STEP 1: Collect materials. Bubble wrap, packing 'peanuts', tape, and of course, the figures. Lay out figures on a piece of bubble wrap. Place small foam 'peanuts', coton balls, balled up tissue, or some other cusioning between the figures.

STEP 1b: Close up of  figures on the bubble wrap.

STEP2: Carefuly roll the figures and padding up in the bubble wrap. Nothing should move around. Tape the roll, and the ends in multiple places.

STEP 3: Pack the tubes with the figures firmly in a box. Here I have placed a layer of packing 'peanuts' on the bottom, followed by a couple plastic shopping bags, in order to keep the 'tubes' from settling to the bottom. I then stack the tubes, and pour more 'peanuts' around the sides, and along the top, as well as more plastic bags. There should be enough packing material so that there is little to no movement or shifting of the contents when closed, but not so much that the contents are crushed.
