Clarifications
TO: Sir Thrad
FROM: Le Renard

Monsieur,

It appears that you have won our first encounter. I look forward to matching wits with you again, someday. However, I am writing to you in an effort to clarify some important points. For what it is worth, I wish to state the following three things. Consider it an informal deposition, if you will.

Firstly, Sir Jarbeau has never actively participated in any MRB attack, destruction of property or theft of property. I doubt, judging by your reputation, that this will motivate your sense of mercy, but it was my duty, nonetheless.

Secondly, the populace of Ralltierre was, by and large, unaware of our activities and/or residence in their quaint little town. Furthermore, all members of our group have since departed the town, as have any of our allies once there. It is not our intention for you persecute, interrogate or harass them on account of our former residence there. We do not involve innocents in our operations. However, our dedication to our cause is greater than our need to see to everyone's safety. Though I cannot stop you from any overzealous actions, I can do the following. Any unnecessary cruelty you visit upon the innocent citizens of Ralltierre will be met with twice the harassment of your fellow Crusaders.

Lastly, I apologise for the loss of your man, Nigel, I believe. It was never my intention to have anyone come to harm. I sought only to depart the town quietly. However, without accusation or blame, suffice it to say that things developed differently. I beg your pardon, inasmuch as it pains me to have anyone perish because of something I had any involvement with. However, I'm afraid I must affirm one of our beliefs, in that, had Nigel not been a willing member of an occupational military force acting under the despotism of an enforced rulership of foreign origin, he would not have come to harm in the way that he did.

Though you have won the battle, to be cleche, we will win the war, Sir Thrad. This is our home, afterall. You are merely one of many unwanted guests.

With Respects,
Le Renard, MRB.
