Unlimited Adventures is absolutely the BEST game maker on the market. It only does RPGs, and it only does the Forgotten Realms setting, but it allows you to do just about everything without programming.
The way it does it, is the Event Editor. This tool gives you a questionarre for each event. For example, say I wanted to put a ton of moogles for the player to fight? First it'll ask what you want to say when the moogles are encountered, how far away, what sides they are on, who's surprized, are their any more monsters, and other important questions. And there are about 40 events to choose from. If there isn't one here that will fit your needs you can stack several together to make a custom event!
Another good feature is it lets you import any graphic you want for a picture. This allow great freedom, for it lets you step out of the fanasty genre. Unlimited Adventures really allows you to build straight from your imagination.
Even if you aren't successful in making a game for others, you can get over 1,000 games that others have made over the net! Do you remember the Gold Box Krynn games, especially The Dark Queen of Krynn? This game runs of the same engine. People who've played it can tell you that even though the game was simplistic, the plot and battles rocked!
Due to the fact that this game is hard to get, it really isn't that popular. Their are several ways to get it. First, it was published by SSI, so you can probably get it through mail-order, which is how I got mine. However, it is more expensive that way.
Another way to get it is to get it in a 4 CD pack, called Fanasty Fest. The other CDs are good, too. One is a random dungeon maker called Dungeon Hack. One is a game where the computer acts like a Dungeon Master called Fanasty Adventures, I think. The last one, I forgot, but if these products are anything like Unlimited Adventures, they will be of the highest quality.
the final (and cheapest) way to get Unlimited Adventures is to get it in one of those 10-pack jewel boxes where they give you the game free. You might have to look around for a while, because they packed a ton of other games with this package, but don't give up. A good place to find these 10 pack jewel cases is Office Depot.
* Your characters will start from lvl 1 and go to lvl 20 (I hope)
* It will have some very tricky puzzles, which take a lot of creativity to figure out. (They aren't obscure, just save often)
* I used NO overworld maps, and there are about 8 2 level worlds as well, as a beggining 7 level map and an ending 4 level map!
* There will be Ultima - like quests, and such, as well as a lot of fights.
* There will be a good plot, but won't rival some other games I could mention.
As soon as I finish it(that might take a long time considering I don't have Unlimited Adventures on my machine anymore) and beta-test it, I'll put it on my page and publish it to several other pages.
This is a FTP site containing about 1,000 games for Unlimited Adventures.
This is a page that has a little bit of everything.
From the second page, you can get to any link you want so it'll be redundant for me to republish them again, right? :)
