  • tiny mitochondria dormant for millions of years awaken, ready to revolt..at any moment...

The makers of Final Fantasy 7 combined with Hollywood Digital Arts bring Parasite Eve. The cinematic RPG from Square Co. Ltd and Square USA LA.

    Story
Based on the plot of the novel in Japan, it centers around a woman who contains intelligent mitochondria, Eve who believes that all forms of non mitochondrial power must cease to exist. Animals and other organisms are controlled by the mitochondria who are set on a mission to do one thing, and that is to destroy and infest others.

    System
You control the Rookie detective, Aya Brea of the NYPD to shut stop the cause of the mitochondrial attack. With pre-rendered backrounds like those found in Resident Evil and Final Fantasy 7, the games main focal point of movement takes place with polygonal characters, and scrolling text to give a much more dramatic lovie-like experience. As for graphic quality, expect nothing less than Square, only more detailed than those of FF 7 with a cleaner resolution in 640x480. One of the many vital points of Parasite Eve is that the game features heavy exploration aspects which many games tend to fail on. Square seems to be moving on to more of a movie like experience not in a sense of better explanation, but in a sense that movies have something over games that can be used to touch the gamer in a way no other can. That is what I believe Square tries to accomplish when they incorporate movie aspects in their games.

    Battle System
The game's battle sequences will utilize Square's patened ATB (active time battle) used in FF Tactics and FF7 as well as 5 & 6. Battles will be turned based with a little flair of action like those scene in The Secret of Mana, meaning more movement.
