3.1 What is Heretic - Shadow Of The Serpent Riders?

Despite somewhat misleading text on the back of the box, 'Shadow' is just the latest available version of Heretic, and comes with two new episodes not available in earlier versions of the game. If you have an older version of Heretic, then you should be able to upgrade it to 'Shadow' free of charge. You can find a guide to upgrade patches below...

3.2 How do I get the latest version of Heretic?

You can download a shareware version of Heretic from id Software's site.

Upgrade patches for Heretic can be downloaded off the internet for free. Use the table below to work out what upgrade patches you need, and click on the patch names to download them from id Software's ftp site... Just look for your version of Heretic across the top of the table, and download all the patches in the column below it.

3.3 How do I get the latest version of Hexen?

You can download a Hexen demo from id Software's site. If you have a Mac, you can also download a MacHexen Demo.

There is only one upgrade patch for Hexen, and this can be download off the internet for free. This patch will upgrade your registered version 1.0 of Hexen to v1.1, which allows eight player deathmatch - the only Doom engine game currently available with more than four player deathmatch...
