1.1 Cheat Codes

To use a cheat, simply bring up the command console by pressing the tilda (~) key. This is usually in the top left hand corner of your keyboard, below the "Esc" key... Then type in the cheat code.

Quake Code Quake II Code What It Does
GOD GOD Makes you invulnerable
IMPULSE 9 - Gives you a full set of weapons and keys.
IMPULSE 255 GIVE QUAD Gives you the Quad Damage bonus
GIVE GIVE Quake I -
  • to get weapons type in 'GIVE', followed by a number to get that numbered weapon. For example, "GIVE 7" gives you the rocket launcher.
  • to get ammo type in 'GIVE', followed by a letter - S(hells), N(ails), R(ockets) or C(ells), followed by how much you want. For example, "GIVE N 50" gives you 50 nails.
  • to get health type in 'GIVE H' followed by how much you want. For example, "GIVE H 50" gives you 50 health.

Quake II -

  • "GIVE ADRENALINE" - gives you adrenaline
  • "GIVE AIRSTRIKE MARKER" - gives you the airstrike marker
  • "GIVE ALL" - gives you all equipment, weapons and ammo
  • "GIVE AMMO" - gives you full ammo
  • "GIVE AMMO PACK" - gives you the ammo pack
  • "GIVE ANCIENT HEAD" - gives you the ancient head
  • "GIVE ARMOR" - gives you 200 armour
  • "GIVE ARMOR SHARD" - gives you an armour shard
  • "GIVE BANDOLIER" - gives you the bandolier
  • "GIVE BFG10K" - gives you the big f*cking gun
  • "GIVE BLASTER" - gives you the blaster
  • "GIVE BLUE KEY" - gives you the blue key
  • "GIVE BODY ARMOR" - gives you 1 armour
  • "GIVE BULLETS" - gives you 50 bullets
  • "GIVE CELLS" - gives you cells
  • "GIVE CHAINGUN" - gives you the chaingun
  • "GIVE COMBAT ARMOR" - gives you the combat armour
  • "GIVE COMMANDERS HEAD" - gives you the commanders head

  • "GIVE WEAPONS" - gives you all weapons but no ammo
NOCLIP NOCLIP Allows you to fly and walk through walls. Type NOCLIP a second time to return to normal...
- NOTARGET Enemies won't attack you
FLY - Allows you to fly. Whilst flying using d to go up and c to go down...
SV_GRAVITY ### - Type in a number instead of ### and this will set the amount of gravity on a level. 850 is the default. So to half the pull of gravity, type SV_GRAVITY 425. Reducing gravity allows you to jump higher and fall slower.


1.2 How Do I Kill Shub-Niggurath?

At the end of Quake I you face Shub-Niggurath, a big ugly lump of goop looking like some twisted nightmare of a tree. Loosing your entire arsenal into it is a waste of time. So how do you kill old Shub?

Well, you see that spikey ball thing that's flying around Shub? OK, wait until you see the ball enter Shub, and then step into the teleporter you'll find at the end of a flight of stairs. Presto - you telefrag Shub. Disappointing anti-climax of an ending, but it does produce an impressive shower of gibs...


1.3 Getting rid of choppy sound in Quake II

A lot of people have reported choppy sound in Quake II. To solve this, try typing s_primary 0 at the console, followed by snd_restart. If this doesn't work, then try s_wavonly 1 and try snd_restart again...
