Additional Info -21:08 CDT
Ok, so I lied. Actually, THIS is the final update. I just forgot to put up a few more things:

Jadean Grayhome had an idea about the beta test that sounds like a great way to find some bugs that may be hidden and find their way into the final release.

Cerrin Wilderwood has some Other observations regarding the Range Bug and Ba'alzamon has Even more thoughts on the Long-Distance-Attack-Bug!

Final Update 8:59 CDT
Got back from the concert a little early (and it was in Birmingham, not Atlanta. oops!). The page is now updated with a few more posts from Designer Dragon, including a call for info on the healer crashes. There are also a few random new ideas and a few taken down.

Yes, this is the last update. I was hoping to be able to still keep it up during school (starting tomorrow), but it's obvious from just the last 3 days that I won't be able to. I would rather just officially end the page than have it completely out-of-date with random updates that are few and far between.

I received one offer for someone to continue with the updating of the page, but at the time I was hoping to be able to do it myself. Since then, he found another project (with LucasArts!), so he won't be available. If anyone else is interested, email me. You will need to find another site because releasing the FTP info would involve my account information.

I've already said the reasons why I can't be in the final, but hope everyone enjoys it. I wish Origin the best of luck with Ultima Online!

Non-Update -12:08 CDT
I'm really sorry I haven't updated the page lately. I've been really busy with everything and haven't really had time to put the emails and posts to HTML. I'm getting ready to leave to Atlanta for the Wallflowers/Counting Crows concert (WOOHOO!!!), and I promise that I will get the page up-to-date when I get back.

Update -21:59 CDT
Ok, got all of Designer Dragon's posts up. Also put up a few other ideas and suggestions. Seems like since UO Vault cleaned up their BB, the Origin employees are more willing to take time out of their budy schedules to respond to posts. Thanks Designer Dragon!

Additional Info -21:08 CDT
Musashi has some more ideas on the problem with creature attacks. Check it out here.

Update -21:07 CDT
Put up a few things today, including some more in the Entertainment section. Also fixed a couple more problems thanks to Kyar Kano. There were also quite a few posts by Designer Dragon. I haven't finished all of them, but a few are up now. The rest will be up later today (hopefully).

Additional Info -14:53 CDT
Ba'alzamon has a theory about why animals are attacking from so far away, and it sounds very feasible. Check it out here.

I got an email from Azriphale about a web site devoted to tracking down information on the internet's lag problems as of late. Here's the message:

I just came across this site: http://www.nvt.net/uolags.html

It has some very good information on a possible "bottle neck" in the internet, and could be some of the source of all the lags in UO! Could you please review this site a post it on your web site. We need as many people to complain about this so that so action will be taken.

Thank you very much.
Azriphale

Update -14:49 CDT
A few things added and a couple taken down. Thanks to Kyar Kano for letting me know I forgot to add links to the Designer Dragon posts yesterday.

XAugust 18, 1997

Update -16:13 CDT
Added a few things today. Designer Dragon must have been in a good mood last night, and all 5 of his posts that I found at UO Vault are up. There is also an interview on the Entertainment page, and a few new ideas added. I'll probably be taking stuff down randomly as I come across it later today.

Registration Server Test Tomorrow -13:39 CDT
Just a reminder for all beta testers to re-register tomorrow during the big server load test. There will most likely be problems signing up and the entire process may be slow, but that's what the test is for. If you lost your serial number, FIND IT! And if you have multiple accounts, be thankful for the account wipe.

UO Voting Forum -13:36 CDT
Thanks to Kyar Kano, the UO Voting Forum has now expanded their list using the ideas posted here. I added the link to the side frame, and highly recommended visiting it and casting your votes. The response so far has been tremendous and very informative. Here is the accouncement from Kyar Kano.

I have been working on a special project with PoiZon of the UO Primer and Woofer of the UO Voting Forum. A list has been compiled from the ideas collected on the Primer and prepared for rating. As fans and testers, I ask that everyone take the time to visit the UO Voting Forum and answer the Primer questions. With enough of a player response, we can show Origin how we feel about various gameplay and client issues. This will assist them in making Ultima Online live up to its potential and it will allow us to more directly shape the game.

The questions have been arranged by the categories in which they appear on the UO Primer. This allows interested voters to more easily refer to the original text on these issues. While this may help to clarify some issues, the questions have been prepared to be self-contained. No research is necessary. The UO Voting Forum is an automated account-based site. Those who do not already have an account need only apply at the site and an e-mail will automatically be sent confirming Username and password.

The UO Voting Forum is at http://www.canvaslink.com/uo/

Please take the time to cast your vote and let Origin hear your opinions. It would also be a tremendous help if this information were sent to other boards and news sites.

Update -13:32 CDT
Sorry for how long I went without updating. Well, this was kind of a large update...but only 1 idea was added. There were also some map bugs and 3 posts from Designer Dragon, but the main part of the update was clearing stuff out. Origin has been working even harder to finish the many fixes and add-ons that are planned, and it's giving me more server space =)

Beta Board/Bug Board -13:11 CDT
I forgot to mention that in addition to the Beta Board, UO Vault now has a Bug Board too. Both are using a script that is still being worked on, but it is still a huge and obvious improvement over the last script. I have not seen one single spam and very few offensive posts. If you haven't seen them in the past day, go check them out.

One Week Left -13:08 CDT
As school is getting closer and closer, I realized that I most likely won't be able to keep the page updated after next Friday. I'm going to a Wallflowers/Counting Crows concert that weekend, then school starts the following Monday. I may be able to find the time, but don't be surprised to see a sudden halt in updates.

Update -13:06 CDT
Tiny little update this time. One of the new things is another song by Mech Havoc: Hats at the Tailors. It was written to the tune of Cats and the Cradle (one of my all-time favorite songs), originally written by the Chapins and redone by Ugly Kid Joe.

Improved Beta Board is Up-13:39 CDT
Yesterday the Beta Board was taken down in response to the constant spamming and distasteful posts. Gasper put it back up today and here is the announcement:

The Beta Board is back up and the ability to ban has been added as well as listing your ip address beside your post. Thanks a lot to Newton Dragon for showing me this very easy and very efficient way to implement this feature. I am very grateful to you; you have saved me a lot of time and trouble. I will be working on a little formatting on the script but if you find a problem, be sure to let me know about it. Also, the name and subjects are limited to 50 characters and also, the page is on the new server so if you cant access it, be sure to tell me. Thanks.

Some people may be against having their IP addresses listed, but it's necessary in order to keep the board under control. To anyone who gave up on the board, maybe you could take a look at it now and see what you think =)

AWE64 and DirectX 3.0a-11:36 CDT
For those who has an AWE64 and have been having problems with sound, the problem apparently stems from the DirectX 3.0a drivers (version included on the CD). There have been many reports of these problems going away after installing DirectX 3.0b or DirectX 5.0. They can be downloaded from Microsoft's site. Thanks Gillbert!

Update -11:33 CDT
Another regular update. Lots of new ideas and a few bugs put up. Also, the Entertainment section has a new song from Spectre that was adapted from Civilized by Rollins Band.

XAugust 13, 1997

Update -17:56 CDT
I had some more things to add and I'm bored, so there's another update. Be sure to check out Mech Havoc's new song: I Only Wanna Pkill You. It's the first contemporary song that I've seen written for UO =)

.Six's Message and the "Accelerator Program -16:35 CDT
Derren Dragon sent me an email that explained the tables that .Six gave in his idea about the rate of skill advancement. It also addresses Mac(ro) Daddy's response about the macro program and what can be done about it. Thanks Derren.

Update -16:33 CDT
Just another update. Few ideas added, few taken down. I slipped a few things in and out yesterday too.

New QA Proclamation -18:08 CDT
The Ultima Online Quality Assurance Team has posted another QA Proclamation . This time it deals with bug exploitation. Many testers have been caught exploiting bugs and not reporting them (most notoriously, Rainz) and now action will be taken against those who do this. There is also a new announcement in the Town Cryer that deals with the stress test planned for next week, piracy, bug exploitation, and the minimum requirement change. I encourage everyone, whether in the beta test or not, to read through both of these messages.

Additional Info -18:07 CDT
There was a reply from Mac(ro) Daddy of him explaining his program. It's not clear whether or not this is actually him, or if he even has a program, but it sounds believable.

.Six has written out one of the most intricate ideas that I've read for the rate of skill advancement (although he lost me near the end). I just though I'd post it here in addition to the Miscellaneous Issues page.

Update -18:04 CDT
Larger update this time. Many new things added, and many taken down. Among the new things are a response from Wyrd Dragon to Wyrd Dragon (just read it, you'll see) and some more bad ideas. There are still more things to take down, and I'll be doing that as I find them. Just wanted to get these up first.

Cheat Programs -20:11 CDT
Recently two people (one person?) under the names Mac(ro) Daddy and Not telln' have been making posts on the Beta Board claiming to have cheat programs. These programs, supposedly, do not affect the client or server, rather they are programmed macros of mouse movements and key presses. It is very likely that these exist now, and have existed for a while (training dummy macro progams). If anyone gets a hold of one of these programs, or even finds out any information about them, please report what you know to Origin. Cheats have spoiled many games (namely Diablo), and one of Ultima Online's boasts was that it will be cheat-free. I'm sure that nobody, including myself, want to see such a promising game have a drawback as large as cheating.

Entertainment Section-19:32 CDT
The section collecting all of the poems, songs, etc., is now up. Check out the Entertainment section to see what's been collected so far. This is only for enjoyment and nothing here is to be taken seriously =)

Update -13:44 CDT
Not many new things added to the page, but plenty of editing was done. All the forms were removed from each section and now there is just one form with a link on the side frame. I finally found the problem with visited links not being marked, and that should be fixed now. I'm surprised nobody asked me to fix it earlier =) There will be a couple more changes coming soon...including a section to collect all the practical jokes, songs, poems, etc., submitted by people.

New host and URL!!! -5:36 CDT
This site has moved to a new host and has a new address: http://www.mindspring.com/~poizon or http://poizon.home.mindspring.com. Geocities has been a wonderful host, but Mindspring has a few advantages that Geocities can't offer. The page will still be mirrored on Geocities for another couple of days, but the only updates will be at the new address.

News on the BB -5:35 CDT
I received word from Spectre that him and Gasper are currently working on cleaning up the UO Vault Beta Board. It may take a little while, but until then, please just ignore any spams or flames that are posted. Responding to a flame with another flame only makes matters worse. Thanks Spectre.

I'd like to apologize to Gasper and the rest of the people at UO Vault for the comments I've made lately regarding the Beta Board. Although they weren't always incorrect, they were way out of line. I completely respect everyone at UO Vault and owe everything to them. Sorry for any problems I may have caused guys.
