Primetime -21:33 EST The Primer is kicking off well, be sure to check out the newest messages - including one poster who's fed up with the limited justice of murdering in Britannia.
Come hither, the messenger bears news from afar -16:58 EST The villages are abuzz in Britannia - today is certainly one of news. Here's a rundown:
- New patches - As you may have noticed already, the team is patching the beta again. Several map fixes are included, which racks up the size of one of the two newest patches to nearly four megs. This mega patch also introduces required strength limits on armor and clothing, so many of you may find that you come into the game unable to wear the equipment to which you are accustomed since you will need i.e. 60 strength to wear plate mail. For the complete list of fixes from both patches, click here. Watch your updater, I received an Error reading file block from socket error on my end on the big patch, have yet to try it again.
- Player wipe incoming! - Within the hour, a player wipe is expected. Please plan appropriate goodbyes for your avatars.
- Player Killing din reaches not-so-deaf-as-once-thought ears. - Origin has mentioned in the Development Journal that they intend to continue to improve notereity accuracy, and to report any bugs or loopholes you find, since no other method will be used to frown upon PKilling prior to release.
- UO Monitor version 1.1 is now available in the files section.

More good fortune for the SanXuary -22:25 EST While it's still early to predict, the site has had some good breaks thus far - here's the latest. I've been offered mucho space-o and a domain name by a comrade in the biz, and I'm ready to take the deal, but I'm going to have to rehaul many places in the site. Unfotunately, it also looks like I'll have to put an advertising banner up. Please email me and tell me if I should stay with the five megger limit as long as I'm advertising-free.
I'm done for the night, but I've put up some more posts - they're all in the Primer.
Development Journal update -20:20 EST Servers continue to run up and down (as one poster called UO the yo-yo simulation - up and down, up and down. Anyway, it's about time, but fortunately the DJ is being updated regularly again. In a shell, here's the latest briefing:
- Economic issues. We're looking at putting in the following
two measures.
- Adding items that can only be obtained from shopkeepers.
(Cool ones that people want--like the nicest items, colored
armor, etc).
- Making shops lower the prices on items that do not sell,
so they compete with players more.
We're planning on observing the last change we made (increased
raw materials costs) and then if necessary, implementing the next
step, and observing again.
- Creature distribution. We're assessing the overall and
relative populations of all creatures.
- Rate of advancement. We're closely observing the rate at
which players advance in power.
In addition, we've seen the numerous posts regarding playerkilling. We are
planning on handling this issue solely through the methods already in place--
which does not of course mean that the methods are as yet fully effective.
If you find places where guards do not function but clearly should (such as
moongates), please report them and post them!
Looks like we won't see any radical improvements in the PK issue any time soon, but keep those posts coming anyway. Some minor site features have been added, including a new patch description page - just click on the patch name in the menu bar to see its improvements.

New Primer format -19:52 EST The Primer has been updated. Now all of today's submissions will be located at the top as well as in their respective categories, making replies more likely. If you don't agree with a post from someone else, make sure you note it to me when you submit, and I will chain the two posts with a graphic - well, just do it so I can show off what I mean :)
Also, the first three submissions since the move of the Primer are in - and they're all about the relivened player killing issue. Head over to see what alternatives beta testers are considering.
Knock, knock, knockin on EB's door -18:23 EST It is September, so the hot topic around the boards at the Vault is whether or not Ultima Online will officially ship on time (which reportedly would be on September 23rd). Expect an article here about the issue sometime soon - in the meantime, it wouldn't be a bad idea to preorder now since the initial stock appears to be limited.
Meanwhile it appears the on-off issue of resolving new gameplay features is 'off again'. After the Labor Day weekend crash, it appears the team will be focusing strictly on server stability for the next few days.
Welcome Visitors -17:53 EST I'd like to extend some greetings to visitors. Up to now I haven't linked my page anywhere so these news briefs are essentially notes to myself. Expect to see solid material here in the next few days.
If this is your first time here, stop by the Primer section. The page takes a while to load since there are links to so much information (which used to be stored at the UO Primer). Other than that, all other areas are still pretty lean just yet (except the files). If you have a word you'd like to say about the game, hit Submit Issue on the menu bar to the left. This will help get your opinions noticed, and maybe even become real if the designers decide to implement it in the game. Please keep all posts UO related (ahem, no Diana sympathies please).
Good luck in your travels, adventurers.
New Colors -13:12 EST Ooo-whee, big whopee, you say, but we now have a dark background. I expect this color to last approximately 2.3 days before changing again. I've fine-tuned a few more areas, and everything should be working fine again (but that's what I said last time).
Primer is functional -11:52 EST The menu now has all Primer boards and all messages should be working now. If not, give me an email (using the semi-new menu to the left). I think the sidebar is gettting a little cramped, so I'm working on putting all of the boards into one HTML link. Stay tuned.

Ring those bells, the SanXuary's gettin married! -21:55 EST And I'm stuck writing out invitations - or rather, fixing up all of the hundreds of htm's that came with its new spouse, the UO Primer. I've managed to put up all of its subdivisions into working shape, but roughly 2/3rds of these posts are still left unfinished. I'll get them tomorrow morning. In the meantime, feel free to Submit your UO-regarding issue via the last button on the menu to the left. Bedtime.
One other feature -13:59 EST Embedded a music file from the game appropriate for my site. If you want to hear it again, just go to the links and then back up.
Oh yes, and I just invited the glorious Sir Jimi T to visit the site. Hello, Jimi.
A Problem -13:45 EST Seems both game and login servers are down indefinitely now, so the Oracle business may have to be moved back. Nice timing isn't it? I may just start working this Labor Day.
One small addition, similar to the UO Vault, if you click on 'server status' up above, you'll be sent to a page telling you the current situation of Ultima Online. If I need to give credit to someone or am infringing someone's copyright, as always, let me know.

Plans for tomorrow -22:19 EST Just to outline what you can expect from The SanXuary in the future: tomorrow, server willing, I'll proceed on my first logged journey into wilderness, just to get the Oracle page moving since I plan this to be one of the fundamental parts of my page. Wait till you see the face of Migelius!
Britannia, where art thou? -19:18 EST No word on why the servers have been down. The last news heard from the team is not from the development journal (which hasn't been updated since last Thursday) but from the AutoPatcher.
8/30/97 10:35pm
The servers will be down until tomorrow. There is a serious problem that cannot be resolved in this late hour.
I'll post up here when the UO Monitor tells me the servers are up.
Good News -18:08 EST Just received a note from PoiZon (who should be reading this soon) that he would gladly give me further control of the UO Primer (click here to take a look at it) What this means for the SanXuary? I'm not sure yet, but I'll figure it out later.
I've added the Laboratory, where bugs and general bad things in Ultima Online will be discussed and fixed as best as humanly possible - maybe better! Check it out using the menu bar to the left.
Premier article -13:15 EST The first of many articles to come has arrived - Let me in! from yours truly. If you wish to submit a story or article, do email me.
Getting the engine moving -12:15 EST Added a rudimentary files section. Grafted old chat room into working shape. Made a groovy new background for the date headers. Spruced up menu bar. Onward... |

Now the hard part -20:16 EST Now I will strike an ancient Greek pose and contemplate my layout for the site, and just what features I'm going to tackle with my time zorkmids. To sum up my general idea of the moment - this will be an Ultima Online page. Hope you like it. If you have come here looking for a Warcraft 2 site, click here for the gutted version of what used to occupy this webspace.
This be a test -19:53 EST This is just a test. Do not evacuate your chicken farm. |
