Just in case you don't know how this game works.
On the screen is a green bar where arrows will appear indicating directions you
must tap on the game pad. On the end of the bar will be a O or X indicating a
button on the PlayStation controller. Music in the game is set to beats of
four. Notice that the green bar with the arrows flashes along with the beat of
the music for the first three beats. On the fourth beat the O or X button
picture will flash. During the first three beats you must tap the indicated
directions on your controller. On the fourth beat you must tap the indicated
button. Try to keep button taps in rhythm with the music to score more points.
Just remember to tap all of the directions in the first three beats, even if
there are more than three directions (one per beat), before you must press the
button on the fourth beat.
Every time you get a command line right your character will do a new dance move
and a new set of commands will be displayed. The command lines will become
progressively more complex as you perform moves correctly. Sometimes you will
have two lines. In this case you must perform only one line of commands.
Don't start the top line and then hit the button for the bottom line.
When you have a choice between two command lines, the bottom line will most
often give you the most points and is generally more complex.
If you are doing much better than your opponent then the camera will focus more
on you. If you're messing up really bad then the camera focuses on your
opponent.
At some point in the game, you will enter solo dance mode where the camera
zooms in on you, there are no commands listed on screen, and the happy faces at
the top of the screen are dimmed. At this time you will have the opportunity
to make up your own move commands. Just tap some directions and hit O or X
with the music like normal. The "High Scoring Move" commands listed above will
give you lots of points if you do them right.
You may attack your opponent and lower their power bar while increasing your
own by tapping the TRIANGLE button in place of the regular O or X button after
tapping the directions indicated on screen. You may attack up to twice per
dance and only when the happy faces at the top of the screen are lit. You also
have to wait for your opponent to go through their third combo (it'll say when
they've done so on screen) before you may attack them. After your attack you
will have to perform the same direction commands again with the regular O or X
command.
Just before a character attacks, they will do something such as charge up the
attack or make a sound. If you see your opponent doing this little thing that
looks like they're about to attack then just follow the direction commands as
usual and press the SQUARE button instead of the usual O or X button to
back-flip and dodge the attack.
