	---Other Things You Need to Know:
At the bottom of the screen there is a meter that increases when you get hit, block an incoming attack, or hold WP+WK+HP.  This is the POW Meter.  As the POW Meter increases you special moves will do slightly more damage.  When the meter is filled to it's capacity it will say "MAXIMUM" and your character will begin flashing.  During this time the meter will slowly begin to drain.  While your character is flashing your attacks will do more damage, you will be able to perform special move counter attacks as described below, and you will be able to perform a MAX Move.  Once the meter is totally emptied or once you perform a MAX Move, your character will stop flashing and the meter will need to be refilled.

To perform a MAX Move, your character's life bar must be flashing red or your POW Meter must be filled and showing "MAXIMUM."  Your character will flash when you reach "MAXIMUM" and during this time you may perform the MAX Move even if your life bar isn't low enough to flash red.

When your POW Meter is filled to "MAXIMUM" you may perform any special move or MAX Move as a counter attack instead of using the F+ WP or WK counter attack method.  While flashing in "MAXIMUM" mode, quickly perform the command for any special move or MAX Move immediately after blocking an incoming attack.  Your character will instantly attack your opponent with the move you performed with lightning fast speed hitting the opponent no matter how far away they are.  You may even use this attack against a projectile fired from the opposite side of the screen and the move will still hit.  This will also interrupt any multi hitting moves you block. Using this counter technique will not alter your POW Meter in any way.

Taunting will lower your opponent's POW Meter if it is not in "MAXIMUM" mode.  The longer you taunt the more energy will be removed.  You can stop a taunt at any time by pressing any button.

Dodging causes your character to move to the side avoiding being hit. Most attacks can be dodged but some cannot.  The side-step only lasts for a split second so you must time the dodge just right.  While dodging you may press any attack button to strike out directly in front of your character.  This way you may dodge a lose attack and immediately attack your opponent before they have time to recover.

Throws are UNBLOCKABLE and cannot be escaped.
Note: throws that are character specific special moves are blockable unless otherwise labeled.

If your character becomes dizzy (stands on screen while you have no control over them) from taking too many hits or if your character is grabbed and held by a character then you may call in one of your teammates to attack your opponent giving you time to recover from dizziness or setting you free from your opponent's grasp.  To call one of your characters in you must press WP+WK+HP while you are dizzy or held.  There are a few conditions for your teammate to help you: you must have less than half of your life bar remaining, you must have your teammates in view on screen, one of them must not have been defeated in the current battle, and you must be in good relations with your teammate (you cannot call on help from a teammate that is your character's enemy according to the storyline, note that this only applies when using Team Edit since all characters in a preset team will always help each other).

Most special moves and MAX Moves will cause your opponent to take a little bit of damage if they block.

After you defeat one of the opposing teams fighters, your current character will regain a slight bit of their life bar and then face the next person at that level of life.  If you happen to defeat all three members of the other team with one character then you will receive a "STRAIGHT" bonus during scoring.  If you defeat the other team without being hit once and having to regain health then you will also receive a "PERFECT" bonus during scoring.

You may choose the "Team Edit" option if you wish to pick any three characters to comprise your team instead of selecting a preset three person team as in King of Fighters '94.  You may only select the bosses when using Team Edit since they are not members of a preset team.

When fighting against Omega Rugal in the standard three-on-three matches, he will be assisted by the panther sitting on the right side of his stage if you make Rugal dizzy or try to perform a hold on him.  The panther will not assist you if you are fighting as Omega Rugal on this stage.

When two projectiles meet they cancel each other.  The button used to throw a projectile doesn't matter when projectiles hit each other; a projectile thrown with QCF+WP will cancel a projectile thrown with QCF+HP.  MAX Moves that create projectiles will also cancel special move projectiles and continue to travel across the screen.  Some other special moves and MAX Moves will cancel projectiles.

The A button is a weak punch and the C button is a hard punch.  The same applies to the B button being a weak kick and the D button being a hard kick.  Weak attacks are faster and cause a little damage whereas hard attacks are slower and cause much more damage.  The same is true for a special move performed with the different buttons.  A fireball attack performed with QCF+A is less damaging, may go only a short distance across the screen, but will be performed quickly leaving your character less vulnerable to attack.  A fireball attack performed with QCF+C is more damaging, goes farther across the screen, but takes longer for your character to recover from performing the attack leaving you open to a counter attack from your opponent.  This doesn't apply to all special moves, but this is the general concept.

	---Tricks and Codes:

	---King and Yuri Lose Their Tops:
Defeat King or Yuri with a special move or MAX Move and their shirts will be ripped off.  There is no nudity; it only exposes their bras, so don't get too excited.

	---Play as Bosses:
In order to select Saishu or Omega Rugal, you must choose "YES" for "Team Edit" mode then do the following at the character select screen before selecting any characters:
Arcade and Neo-Geo: hold Start and tap: up+B, right+C, left+A, down+D, release Start.  
Playstation: hold Start and tap: up+circle, right+square, left+X, down+triangle, release Start.
Saturn: hold Start and tap: up+Y, right+A, left+X, down+B, release Start.
If you do the code correctly then the screen should black-out then reappear with the bosses faces near the timer.  The timer for selecting characters will also reset.
Note: defeating the game in any mode on any system will also put the bosses on the select screen.

	---Bloody and Bouncy Code (home versions only):
The United States Neo-Geo and Saturn versions of this game have no blood and Mai's breasts do not bounce at all like in the arcade version.  You can put blood back in the game and change Mai back to normal with the following code:
For the Neo-Geo: after turning on the system, wait for the "Ranking" (High Score) screen to appear.  As soon as the high scores are on screen simultaneously press and hold buttons A+D on controller 1 and buttons B+C on controller 2.  Continue holding the buttons until the screen fades out then release them.  When you start the game you should see blood and Mai's breasts bouncing if you did the code correctly.
For the Saturn: after turning on the system, wait for the game demo to begin.  As soon as a demo fight is running simultaneously press and hold buttons X+B on controller 1 and buttons Y+A on controller 2, then press Start and release all of the buttons.  When you start the game you should see blood and Mai's breasts bouncing if you did the code correctly.

	---Quick Character Select (Saturn version only):
You may select all three of your characters in less than a second after losing a game or resetting the system by holding L+R and pressing any button.  You must start holding L+R before you select "YES" or "NO" for Team Edit.
You will automatically be given the three characters you last used.  This works when using Team Edit or not.
This trick will not work if you have just turned on your system but it will work if you just reset the system.

	---Playstation Version Only Codes:

Performing this code will allow you to select the same character three times in one team:

If you use this trick then you will not see the picture of your team and score accumulation after winning a match, cutting down on load time.
To access this trick go into Options, go to Configuration, Press L1+L2+R1+R2.  You should hear a sound and the "Won Demo Menu" will appear where you can turn the Victory Pictures on or off.

	---Escape to Main Menu:
During the game you may instantly go to the Main Menu by holding circle+square+X+triangle and hitting Select.
This works at any time accept while loading.

	---Game Boy Version Only Codes:

	---Random Select:
To let the computer randomly select a character for you to play as, press Start+A+B on the character select screen.

	---Same Person as All Three Team Members:
Performing this code will allow you to select the same character three times in one team:
After turning on the game, wait for the Takara logo to appear on screen, then press A+B, Select before the logo disappears.

	---Infinite MAXIMUM Power:
After turning on the game, wait for the Takara logo to appear on screen, then press Select 20 times before the logo disappears.
This trick only works when using the Super Game Boy.

	---Fight Nakoruru:
To fight against Nakoruru from Samurai Shodown, defeat the entire game on the hardest difficulty level.  You will face her in a special match after the game's credits have all been displayed.

	---Play as Nakoruru:
To use Nakoruru you must enter the following code:
After turning on the game, wait for the Takara logo to appear on screen, then press Select 20 times before the logo disappears.  Nakoruru's face will appear on the character select screen.
If you are using the Super Game Boy then this will also activate Infinite MAXIMUM Power.

	---Play as Bosses:
In order to select Saishu or Omega Rugal, you must perform the following code:
After turning on the game, wait for the Takara logo to appear on screen, then press Select 3 times before the logo disappears.  The bosses' faces will appear on the character select screen.

	---Activate All Hidden Characters:
Performing the following code will allow you to select Saishu, Omega Rugal, and Nakoruru on the character select screen:
After turning on the game, wait for the Takara logo to appear on screen, then press Select 25 times before the logo disappears.
If you are using the Super Game Boy then this will also activate Infinite MAXIMUM Power.
