	---Finishing Move Distances Key:
very close = get as close to your opponent as possible
one jump away = get as close to your opponent as possible and jump back, then take one step forward, or you can estimate the distance
just inside sweep range = be close enough to your opponent so that you would be able to foot sweep them with your foot passing between their feet, or you can estimate to be about two full steps away
sweep range = the maximum range of your foot sweep, or about three steps away
just outside sweep range = be just outside the maximum range of your foot sweep, or about four steps away
full screen = get as far away from your opponent as possible
just inside full screen = a full step in from a full screen away

	---Other Things You Need to Know:
Most special moves and basic attacks will cause your opponent to take a little bit of damage if they block.

Hold BLK to block a high attack or D+BLK to block a low attack.  Special moves that hit low can be blocked while standing but basic attacks that hit low must be blocked while crouching.  All attacks that hit high can be blocked while crouching.

In this guide "CD systems" refers to Mortal Kombat Trilogy on Playstation, Saturn, and PC CD-ROM.  N64 refers to the Nintendo 64 version.  All CD versions of this game are the same except for minor changes in codes, animation, and sounds but the N64 version has many differences from the CD version.

Whenever you attack your opponent you will increase your AGGRESSOR meter located at the bottom of the screen.  Once the meter has grown to spell out "AGGRESSOR" it will begin to flash.  For the next 5-10 seconds your character will be followed by a trail of shadows and all of your attacks will do more damage.  The meter will stop flashing and you will lose your shadows after the time has run out and you will have to refill the meter.

	---MK1 Kano, MK1 Raiden, MK2 Jax, and MK2 Kung Lao:
To select any of these "classic" characters on any of the CD versions, simply put your cursor over Kano, Raiden, Jax, or Kung Lao on the character selection screen and press Select or Start (if there is no Select button on your system).  The character will explode revealing their classic form and the selection screen picture will rotate to show their classic picture.
If you want to change the character back to the new version then just do the same thing again and the picture will rotate back.  This doesn't change all four characters, just the one you have your cursor on.

	---Chameleon (CD systems only):
To play as Chameleon:
Select any masked male ninja, before the beginning of any round, hold HP+BLK+HK+RN+left for player one or HP+BLK+HK+RN+right for player two.  Your character will explode revealing Chameleon.
Chameleon is a translucent ninja who changes color every ten seconds.  His moves depend on what color he is as he gains the moves of whatever male ninja he looks like.  For example, if he's yellow he has Scorpion's moves and if he's red he has Ermac's moves.  His color change is random but it happens every ten seconds.

	---Khameleon (N64 version only):
To play as Khameleon:
During the attract mode after turning the system on, tap: C-right, C-up, A, B, C-up, C-right.  This will put Khameleon's face in one of the blank boxes on the selection screen.

Khameleon is a translucent female ninja whose name in her life bar changes color every ten seconds. Choose any character, before the beginning of a match on "Jade's Desert," "Kahn's Tower," or "The Wasteland" (you may use the Kombat Zone Selection trick listed below or you may wait for the stage to be selected in order), hold B+LK+HK.  Your character will explode revealing Motaro.

To play as Human Smoke:
Select robot Smoke, before the beginning of any round, hold HP+BLK+HK+RN+left for player one or HP+BLK+HK+RN+right for player two.  Robot Smoke will explode revealing Human Smoke.

	---Noob Saibot (Game.Com):
To play as Noob Saibot:

On the character select screen tap: B, C, B, B, D (those are buttons not directions).   The screen will shake and you'll hear a sound if you did the code correctly.

	---Tricks to Fight Against Computer Controlled Hidden Characters:

	---Khameleon (N64 version only):
To fight against Khameleon, play a one or two player game on "The Star Bridge" and press D+Start when Dan Forden appears in the lower right corner of the screen and says "Toasty!"

	---Notes on Base Combos:
Base combos are best performed after a stun or after running in using the "run" button.  The button taps must be very quick and precise to perform the combos.  Base combos must be performed very close to your opponent.  You may start a base combo by first hitting your opponent with a jump punch or a falling jump kick (U then K while falling).  This will add extra damage and an extra hit to a base combo.  Be sure to start the base combo immediately after hitting your opponent with the jump attack.

	---Notes on the Run Button and Run Meter:
The Run button will allow you to run across the screen in the direction of the joystick.  The run button can only be used if the run meter, located below the power bars, is completely green.  The bar turns red when the button is pressed, when a base combo is performed, or when some special moves are performed, and will not turn back to green for a few seconds.

	---Finishing Move Notes:

	---When to Perform Finishing Moves:
Any Finishing Move must be performed after "Finish Him/Her" appears on the screen.  You will have about 5 seconds to activate the Finishing Move.

	---Positioning and the Block Button:
In order to prevent your character form walking forward or back when performing the command for a Finishing Move, you may hold BLK while inputting the command.  However, you must release BLK before hitting the final button in the Finishing Move for it to work unless the Finishing Move command requires U to be pressed in which case you may hold BLK through the entire command including the final button.

	---Babality and Friendship Requirements:
A Babality or Friendship can be performed from anywhere on the screen past sweep range.

	---Babality Reversal / Suicide (N64 version only):
If you lose a match and your opponent attempts to perform a Babality on you, press and hold HP+LP+HK+LK before turning into a baby to cause yourself to explode instead of being humiliated by turning into a baby.  Just hold the buttons as soon as you see the screen go dark so if it is a Babality it will be reversed.

	---Background Fatality Requirements:
You can perform a Background Fatality on the following stages only: Kombat Tomb, Dead Pool, Pit 3, Subway, Kahn's Tower, and Hell.  These fatalities must be done very close to your opponent.
	Note: Hell and Subway Fatalities can only be done if you do not Uppercut your opponent during your match in the Subway or Hell, or they will go through the ceiling where the rest of the battle will continue on The Streets or in The Caverns above.

	---Pit 1 Fatality:
To knock you opponent into the spikes below the Pit 1, simply perform an uppercut when "Finish Him/Her" appears while fighting on the Pit stage. This is the same for all characters.

	---Animality Requirements:
To perform an Animality, you must be on the third round and perform a Mercy.
	Mercy - [RN] D, D, D, D (Distance: full screen away) Same for all characters.
It must be the third round when "Finish Him/Her" appears to perform a Mercy. After performing a Mercy, your opponent will revive and have another chance to attack you at your present amount of strength, but one hit will kill them and make "Finish Him/Her" appear again.  After "Finish Him/Her" reappears you may perform your character's Animality.

	---Brutality Requirements:
To perform a Brutality, you must be very close to your opponent to begin the button sequence for the Brutality.  The button taps must be very precise and fast but not too fast.  Try to tap the next button in the sequence as your character is performing the last hit you entered in the sequence.  After entering the entire sequence, the screen will darken and your character will perform more hits and finish with an uppercut that will cause your opponent to explode.

	---The Treasures of Shao Kahn (CD systems):
After defeating the game or winning the 8 player Endurance Match, you can choose from twelve different rewards.  To access one of the first four, beat the Novice level.  To access one of the first seven, beat the Warrior level.  To access one of the first eleven, beat the Master level. To access any one of the twelve, win the 8 player Endurance Match or beat the Champion level.  The rewards are as follows:

	---Random Select:
To let the computer randomly select your fighter, hold U and press Start on the player select screen on your starting position; Noob Saibot for player 1, and Rain for player 2.

	---Kombat Zone Selection:
To choose which stage you wish to fight on, simply put your cursor over Sonya on the character select screen and press U+Start.  You will hear a boom and you will be able to select your stage after choosing your character.

	---Jump Through Backgrounds:
Uppercut your opponent on the "Subway", "Bank", "Soul Chamber" or "Hell" stage and they will go through the ceiling to a different fighting area where the rest of the match will take place.

	---Slide Off Spikes:
To make your opponent slide off the spikes in the "Kombat Tomb," hold down on both controllers immediately after the fatal uppercut.

	---Secret Sound:
To hear your opponent say "Ah! Ma!," press down on your controller immediately after they hit the acid in the "Dead Pool."

	---Crispy:
After Uppercutting your opponent into the lava lake in the "Hell" stage, hold both HP buttons on the machine to hear Dan Forden say "Crispy" instead of "Toasty," or hold both "run" buttons to hear Shao Kahn say "Crispy."  You can also hold both HP buttons and both "run" buttons at the same time to hear both Dan Forden and Shao Kahn say "Crispy."

	---Frosty:
If you freeze your enemy with either Sub-Zero character while your opponent has the danger sign, Dan Forden will appear and say "Frosty."

	---Pong (N64 version only):
Play to battle 50 on a two player game and you will be able to play a game of the original Pong.

	---Galaga:
Play to battle 100 on a two player game and you will be able to play a game of the original Galaga.

	---Space Invaders (N64 version only):
When fighting on The Pit 1 during a two player game, press the Z trigger when you see a shadow fly in front of the moon.  The winner of the match will play Space Invaders.

	---Ultimate Kombat Kode Entry Screen (N64 version only):
During the attract mode after turning on the system, rotate the control pad clockwise in two 360 degree circles to bring up the Ultimate Kombat Kode entry screen.  However, the kode is still unknown so you will just have a chance to experiment.

	---Special Towers (N64 version only):
To change all of the battle plan towers in a one player game to mostly endurance matches, simply put your cursor over Kano on the character select screen and press D+Start.  You will hear a boom and you will have to battle through several endurance matches to defeat any of the levels.  If you select the Champion tower you will first fight Khameleon one-on-one, then Motaro one-on-one, then eight endurance matches, and finally Shao Kahn.  You may only select the twenty-fourth box of "The Treasures of Shao Kahn" by defeating this Special Champion Tower.

To get infinite kredits / continues, during the attract mode tap: down, down, up, up, right, right, left, left.  You will hear a sound if performed correctly.

While in the options menu with the green question mark at the top, hold U+BLK+RN (U+L1+L2+R1+R2 on Playstation and U+L+R on Saturn) until the screen shakes.  You will then be able to select the green question mark and have access to the following options:
	* 1 BUTTON FATALITIES - to perform any finishing move just stand at the proper distance and hit a button (HP=Brutality, LP=Babality, HK=first Fatality listed for each character, LK=second Fatality listed for each character, BLK=Friendship, RN=Animality),
	* INSTANT AGGRESSOR - one hit fills your AGGRESSOR meter,
	* NORMAL BOSS DAMAGE - bosses take damage like all other characters, they normally take about 1/3 damage from every hit they take,
	* LOW DAMAGE - every hit does much less damage,
	* HEALTH RECOVERY - your character slowly regenerates their life bar during the match.

Both of these should be entered during the attract mode after turning on the system.
Tap C-down, B, A to get a blue question mark menu ("More Kombat") in Options.  In this menu you can do the following:
	* LEVEL SELECT - allows you to select which stage you will fight in after selecting your character,
	* THROWING - disable or enable throws,
	* UNLIMITED RUN - the run button can be used continuously,
	* BLOODY KOMBAT - adds more blood,
	* SMOKE - places Human Smoke's picture on the select screen in one of the blank boxes,
	* KHAMELEON - places Khameleon's picture on the select screen in one of the blank boxes.
Tap C-up, C-right, C-down, A, B, B, B, A, A to get a red question mark menu ("Kombat Cheats") as well as the blue question mark menu in Options.  In Kombat Cheats you can do the following:
	* FREE PLAY - gives you infinite kredits / continues
	* FATALITY TIME - gives you infinite time for performing finishing moves,
	* COLLISION BOXES - shows boxes around characters indicating where an attack must hit to register, 
	* 1 ROUND MATCHES - fighters start with already having won a round each for every match.

On the Vs. screen there is a row of symbols at the bottom.  Each time you press a button, a symbol changes.  The symbols start as Dragons after that the sequence is MK, Yin Yang, 3, ?, Lightning, Goro, Raiden, Shao Kahn, Skull, after that the sequence starts over.  By holding up on the joystick, you can reverse the order of the characters in the sequence, for quicker entry.  Different combinations have different affects on only the two-player game that you are about to play.  The names of the symbols are listed after each code, as well as, the number of button taps for each corresponding slot.
Pressing Player 1-LP, BLK, or LK and Player 2-LP, BLK, or LK will change the symbols.  Each button changes the symbols on the corresponding slot, (on player 1 side) 1-LP, 2-BLK, 3-LK, (on player 2 side) 4-LP, 5-BLK, 6-LK.
