| Miscellaneous Tricks |
========================

    ---Stage Select (home versions only):
Before a match against another human player it is possible to choose which
background you will fight on. After setting your speed handicap and before the
background starts loading, just hold the following buttons:
 On the PlayStation, hold L2+R2+Select and one of the following:
L1        - Akuma's stage
R1        - Devilot's stage
TRIANGLE  - Sakura's stage
SQUARE    - Felicia's stage
O         - Donovan's stage
X         - Hsien-Ko's stage
left      - Ryu's stage
right     - Ken's stage
up        - Morrigan's stage
down      - Chun-Li's stage
no button - Dan's stage
 On the Saturn, hold L+R+Start and one of the following:
Z         - Akuma's stage
Y         - Devilot's stage
X         - Sakura's stage
C         - Felicia's stage
B         - Donovan's stage
A         - Hsien-Ko's stage
left      - Ryu's stage
right     - Ken's stage
up        - Morrigan's stage
down      - Chun-Li's stage
no button - Dan's stage

    ---Fight Computer Controlled Devilot:
1. Start a one player game and have no other human player challenge you.
2. Defeat your first six opponents without continuing.
3. Have at least one chain of 4 or more, a max gem of 20 or more, a round
victory under 60 seconds, and win at least one round with a Super finisher
before stage seven.
 Devilot jumps in as the next character you face. Defeat her and the game
continues normally.
She is extremely difficult to beat and not handicapped like she is when being
used by a human player.

    ---Fight Computer Controlled Dan Instead of Akuma as the Final Boss:
1. Start a one player game and have no other human player challenge you.
2. Have no chain of 4 or more, don't have a max gem of 20 or more, don't win
any round in under 60 seconds, and don't win any round with a Super finisher
before stage seven.

    ---Counter Gems Count Faster:
If you counter at least half of the Counter Gems about to fall on you then the
remaining number will fall on you and start counting down from 3 instead of the
usual 5.

    ---Taunt:
Press Start (Select on PlayStation, L+R on Saturn) during the fight and you
will perform a taunt. You may taunt once per round, but Dan may taunt as many
times as you want.

==============
| Gem Values |
==============
When breaking Gems this is how the computer decides how many Counter Gems are
dropped on your opponent:
  When hit with a Crash Gem:
-Gems are worth 1 Counter Gem,
-Another Crash Gem is worth 1 Counter Gem,
-A counting Counter Gem is worth 1/2 Counter Gem,
-Power Gems are worth the number of regular Gems plus the number of Gems in the
Power Gem times 2 for a 2x2 Power Gem, times 3 for a 2x4 or 3x3 Power Gem, and
so on,
-Gems broken in a chain attack are worth 2 times the regular number in the
second set broken, three times the regular number in the third set broken, and
so on.
-Gems broken by a Diamond are worth only their individual Counter Gem values;
chains and Power Gems don't apply here.

When countering an attack about to be dropped on you, the value of your
attack is divided by two and that number is subtracted from the amount about to
be dropped on you. Any number left over after all of the Counter Gems are
countered is dropped on your opponent as a regular attack.
