War Gods

War Gods is a nice try at a fighting game, but falls short. The animation is a little choppy and the game isn't very innovative. The story goes like this, billions of years ago a ship crashed and scattered an alien element called Ore across the earth. Ten mortals came into contact with the Ore and were transformed into powerful gods. The gods are battling for control of the Ore, which will give the one who controls it supreme power.

The play control is pretty good, including special moves, combos, and the 3-D escape. The 3-D button is alright, allowing players to dodge or attack in any direction. The characters have a wide variety of moves, but only one fatality. War Gods easy to execute combos and moves makes it easy for button-mashers, leaving the game with little strategy.

The characters aren't very innovative and don't look like gods at all. Kabuki Jo looks more like a clown than a samurai warrior. The characters have a poor balance of power, and players have a hard time picking a favorite character. The characters' animation is a little choppy, especially their special moves.

The graphics and backrounds in War Gods are actually pretty good, it's the animation that isn't. The characters' animation is a little choppy, especially their special moves.

If you really like fighting games, you might want to rent it. Otherwise most people won't want to shell out 75 dollars for a mediocre game.
