Nintendo’s first racing game for the Nintendo 64 is one of the best racing games ever! Stunning graphics and controls as you cruise on one of four customizable jet skis makes this a really great game.
The graphics are tremendous, especially the water effect which looks like a real sea or ocean. Waves toss your jet ski around as you race through 9 different coures on 4 difficulty levels.
The Campionship mode puts you
against 3 other jet skiers to battle your way to first
place. A Time Trials mode is included to challenge the
records. A Stunt Mode is also included as you do flips,
barrel rolls, handstands and other stunts of ramps and
waves for points. Use the Versus Mode to challenge an
opponent.
Although an excellent game in its own right, Waverace 64 stands out for another reason. It is the first game to truly make use of the full potential of the Nintendo 64. It utilizes wave propagation physics to reallisticly simulate a bumby ride on a jet ski. In addition, the water is a semi-transparent surface allowing you to see things like riders or fish beneath the waves.
Overall, Waverace 64 is a great game, and recieves our 5 star rating for excellent graphics and gameplay.
