Years Later during Wily's third attack, a new robot who looked like Protoman, appeared working for Wily. He was called Break Man. Break Man would fight Mega Man from time to time and disappear, and once even helped Mega Man. After the Robot Masters of the third attack were beaten, Mega Man went off the Wily's fortress and beat Wily. Wily begged for mercy, but it was too late, the debre of the fortress fell on Wily and crushed him(making everyone believe he was dead). Some remaining debre fell on Mega Man, knocking him out. A dark shadow appeared from nowhere and took Mega Man back to Dr. Light's lab. When Mega Man awoke, Dr. Light told Mega Man about his discovery that his original prototype, Protoman, was still alive and running! The whole time, Break Man was really Protoman.

Protoman loves making an entrance, by whistling his characteristic tune. He's always travelling alone, coming and going when he pleases. The things he hates the most, are interviews.
