CG was told 'unlimited people' and lost 9 months
Westgate Timeshare Resort Issues

Date of Incident: 5/25/1999

I was just looking on the internet for an email address for Westgate Resorts. My experience was similar. We stayed at Westgate Villas for 4 days in Sept of 1997 because we had paid a week in advance at a local hotel that was a total dump when we got to it. We went to a breakfast to get discount tickets to disney world and out of the goodness of their hearts they let us have a room for 100.00 a night for four nights.

During the presentation every time we turned down a "real deal" the next "deal" got better. This went on and I until I finally said I wouldn't mind coming back for a few days but I am not going to buy at this time. They offered me, my daughter and son-in-law and two grandchildren 8 days for 799.00 which I considered a bargain. The sales lady said we had three years to use it and any number of people could come with us.

Well I went to use it this coming September and it seems they want 200.00 more for 5 people. The 799.00 for for only 4 people and Florida has a state law that no more than four people can stay in a 1 bedroom even if they are children. Also after looking at the contract they wrote 27 months instead of 3 years. My mistake for not checking.

If we don't use it before 12/99 I have to pay 200.00 to extend it another year on top of 200.00 for all of us to go. Now tell me why they would sell 5 people a 4 people week. I don't know what to do from here or who to complain to. I paid for the room almost two years ago so they my 800.00. I don't want to loose it but I don't want to put out 200.00 more when we were lied to. Any suggestions?
