SUS We'll Never Go Again
Westgate Timeshare Resort Issues

Date of Incident: 7/18/2004

I have to tell you about my Westgate experience.

A friend at work bought her Westgate Timeshare about 7 years ago & loves it. She has offered many coworkers a chance to experience what she gets for her $$.

In January, I called her representative to visit Westgate Resorts in Las Vegas. After 24 documented calls to her office & cell, I never got a return call. By late February, I called the office and asked for someone else. I wanted to stay there and already had my airfare booked. They wouldn't let me off the phone to think about the price, rather they kept reducing the price so I would say 'yes' before hanging up. We stayed 3 nights for $199 (and shared the cost w/ a friend that was going with us). All in all, I think it was a good deal.

Finally, in May (leaving in June), the first sales rep calls me back. She called me a 'liar', says she tried to call me at home and work. Obviously not true since I already booked a room.

I had my 'appointment' for my sales pitch. 45 minutes into the pitch, he asks about our experience at Westgate so far and the service. No better oppertunity, I dumped on him about this rep who called me a 'liar'. He said he didn't want us to have a bad impression of Westgate & was going to talk to the manager about it. He came back and said we could leave if we wanted, that the sales rep who insulted us has since been fired.

We feel we got off lucky. We saw the others who went to the sales pitch get off the bus about 3 hours later. 90 minutes, my butt. I feel sorry for everyone who lost 3 hours of valuable vacation time sitting & listening to them.

Our room in Las Vegas was REALLY nice but I will defer from going to Westgate again, anywhere, just because of the high pressure sales pitch.

My friend loves it so much, she is buying additional weeks for her kids.

Thanks for letting others post their experiences for all to read. I am already searching for where I want to vacation next year and it won't be in a Westgate Resort.
