TES Numerous Problems from the Beginning
Westgate Timeshare Resort Issues

Date of Incident: 3/8/2004

I too had a bad experience while visiting a westgate property. Myself and my girlfriend visited westgate lakes resort the last week of July 04 and it was the worst experience that I have had in Orlando. Besides the lengthy timeshare presentations, we also experinced poor customer service and poor parking arrangements.

First, everytime me and my girlfriend would leave the resort for a night out on the town and when we would return we would had to park nearly 2 miles from our villa. we literally had to wait for 15 to 20 minutes for some one to come by on a golf cart and take us to our villa. One night when we returned to the resort there was no place to park and it was raining very heavily, so we had to wait in the rain for someone to come cart us to our villa. When the guy arrived to take us to our villa he did not wait for my girlfriend to be seated before he started to move and she almost fell from the golf cart. His response was "I just work here". This incident was reported to management but nothing was ever done about it.

we also had a very difficult time getting in touch with someone to answer our questions or to help us solve our problems. On top of all of this, when we finally took our timeshare tour it lasted forever. when the tour finally ended, my girl decided that she wanted to purchase because of the deal that was offered. They gave us the royal treatment after the purchase (gifts, limo ride) but shortly after we called the front desk to ask if we could stay an additional night for an extra charge since our whole day was consumed by the lenghty presentation and they told us that there was no way that we could do that. So my girl became very upset an the same day we decided to cancel the purchase but no one seemed to know the steps that needed to be taken to cancel the transaction.

We finally got in contact with the right person and he onformed us that we needed to write a letter asking to cancel the transaction, sign it, and turn it in to the business office. We did exactly what we was told to do and they assured us that our account would not be debited and the transaction had been cancelled. But 2 months later we realize that they had waited 2 months to draft the amount for the downpayment and two months payment and it took us forever to get that cleared up.
