WD We're Owners - They Misled Us
Westgate Timeshare Resort Issues

Date of Incident: 9/2/2003

Thank you for your site on Westgate. Hopefully someone will read it before they go for a presentation. We are currently fighting them to honor the agreement they made with us during one of their 3 hour talks. We were talked into purchasing a 3 bedroom , so that we had several choices of how we used it. We could have a 2 bedroom 1 week and a 1 bedroom the second. The 1 bedroom had a full kitchen and laundry, so they said. When we went to use it that way, the 1 bedroom was no better than a studio, without kitchen or laundry. When we complained, the salesman listened and sold us on a 4 bedroom so that we would never be stuck with the 1 bedroom again. When we went to book the 2 week/2 bedroom, we were told we could not use it that way. We were told it could only be used in three weeks, in other words, 2 bedroom + 1 bedroom + 1 bedroom. It would seem instead of not having a 1 bedroom option, we are paying to have two of them! The salesman this year said that the management felt bad we were ripped off so for another $7,000 they would change it into a 4 bedroom that we could use how we were were promised originally. We told him to stuff it!

THis weekend, I sat down and reviewed my contract and paperwork. No where in the contract does it state that the unit can only be used as they described. In addition, I have the salesman's pitch in his own handwriting where he told us we could use the timeshare as a 2 week/2 bedroom. I can prove it was written by the sales man at that date, because he wrote it all on the dated printout of my account.

I wrote to Owner Services and demanded that they honor their agreement that I have in writing. Last I heard a verbal agreement that I can back up with evidence is still valid. They so far have not responded (big surprise) and I am on the internet looking at avenues of recourse, including suing the jerks.

If you have any updated ideas, I am open to any suggestions. Keep up the good work!
