I am using the rules from the Amber Roleplaying Game by Erich Wujic. (Mostly)
I will not be using partial powers except pattern.
I will not use much from Shadow Knight Supplement,
but I think Demon Allies of 1 pt value are equal to a
1 pt Ally in Amber.
Also Broken Pattern is avaliable (10 points.) I do not have it described anywhere on this page.
At this time I will allow the following:
Pattern- 50 points.
Partial Pattern: from 20 to 45 points.
Broken Pattern: 10 points.
Shape Shifting- 35 points.
Logrus- 45 points. Requires shapeshifting.
Trump Artist- 40 points.
Conjuration- 20 points.
Sorcery- 15 points.
Power words- 10 points.(or more)
Pattern: Basic power for player characters. Highly recommended unless playing a denizen of Chaos. By the way, Chaos Lords will not be happy running around Castle Amber... I will not be permitting advanced pattern at the start.
Broken Pattern: A cheap, weaker, dangerous form of pattern.
Shape Shifting: Basic shape shifting is not quick, is very exhausting, and can be of limited effect. You can be a human, but not a specific human (without a lot of effort). If your stats are low (or bad stuff high) you don't even pull of a good copy of a human - too short, too tall, too hairy, fangs etc.
Basic shapeshift allows you to look like a soldier in an army, not like a specific individual. Assume ten minutes to shift form if you want to maintain control. I will not allow advanced shapeshifting abilities (yet).
Logrus: Basic Logrus is available. Shapeshifting is required. The Logrus is not as powerful as Pattern, but it does more stuff. Advanced Logrus is not allowed (yet). Travel through shadow is different from pattern Logrus develops a path to the destination (eg black thresds) and the user follows the path. This can be an elemental path.
Trump Artistry: Trumps are a psychic link to the individual or site pictured. Trump images are not inherently powerful - without a source of Power (Logrus, Pattern, Magic) - trumps are limited in effect to same shadow. Trump artists with Powers can use trump images drawn by artists without power. A trump requires Chaos Psyche to use. A trump artist with a Power can draw a trump that works where ever the Power works. Advanced trump powers are not allowed at start.
Magic (the uncertainty): Magic is finicky. It works in some shadows, but not in others. Overall, it is weaker than other powers.
Sorcery- This is basic spell casting. It takes a long time to prepare a spell. Basically, a ritual is performed and the effect is stored. Spells decay over time, and are difficult to store.
Conjuration- This is the making or enhancing of stuff. Very slow process, but the items tend to stick around.
Power Words- A word of power, or a word of command. This has an instant effect, but exhausts the user. These tend to work every where, drawing on the innate power of the wielder.
