Brocolli's excellent Wolf Guide:
![]()
Heya all,
Well.. since I haven't seen any werewolf guides I'm going to write one (plus a got a little time on my hands). Anyways, I've been gone for some time.. mostly out in the real world doing my job and continuing my boxing practice. As time I grew up through the world of Darkness Falls I mostly learned things from my own experinces and haven't seen any werewolf guides to all those Pups out there. So I'm going to write this kind of lengthy guide to the Wolf (bear with me please). Werewolf Stats and Skills:
As a werewolf your going to be picking one of the hardest races when you get up there. Your main bonus as a wolf is how you get Exp so fast, wolves are like dust busters sucking up exp. Your also cannons, when you can nearly take a Forest Giant in one swing that's progress. But you don't get good by having bad stats. Most pups on the gsend, ask what should our stats be like.. Well as a werewolf your two main stats are strength and agility.
Strength is probably your most important stat, this determines how hard you hit in battle. The least this number should be is 18, anything below 18 will give a bad percentage.
Agility is a very good stat for a wolf, this determines your round time and your action timmer. A good number to have here is 18 plus, this will give you around a 3 second to 2 second action timmer and also will give a good evade bonus (wolves need evade badly).
Constitution you get a natural percent as a wolf, plus the max is like 400 health points for a wolf. Wich you'll eventually reach at 36 or so, if you have around 10 to 15 con.
Dexterity is nice skill to have high, this determines the amount of fatigue you have and I think the accurasy of your attacks.
Intelligence, despite what most people think, wolves should be smart. Having above 13 for intel is good enough, this will give you the required amount of training points, and then some. Wolves don't have many things to train in, but what they do have does cost a lot.
Wisdom dosen't need to be very high, a 5 or above should do. I had around a 6, cin herbs were a pain but I was racking in around 60,000 to 100,000 gold a hunt and it wasn't to much of a problem.
Now for the skills of the wolf, I'm not going to try to tell you in what to train in.. because I don't want to basically create a horde of optimized wolves. I'll just tell you what I did for training.. I trained weapons from level 1 to basically my suicide, this is a skill to keep training in. I always trained in wolf attacks, this is the skill the determines how good you'll do in shape form. I always trained in berzerk. I always trained in evade, even though we get bad evade it's a good skill to train in. I trained in shapeshift to level 20, I picked it up around level 30 again, this skill is your shapeshift chances. By getting it around 150% you'll nearly always shapeshift but don't waste the 2 points in it at higher levels. I had enough to train in climb and swim every level, I trained in this for my first 20 levels.. This gave me around 120% plus in both of the skills wich is plenty, I do recommend training climb at higher levels because there are a few tough climbs out there. I tried to train jump every other level because I know the only place to hunt when you get high would be the Dunes and the Great Desert. I had my jump around 170% when I suicided, was able to make it to the desert and back again ::dances around the room:: It's a nice skill if you want to go there. Percept, ::babbles:: this skills is a nice one to have.. but with everything else your training in is diffucult to get. I started training in it at 20 when I stoped training climb and swim, was able to get it up to 22 or so. It helps a lot against Imp attacks and finding hidden doors, puzzles, and etc. Unarm, at level 11 (guild rank 3: Bone Cruncher) you get a good skill wich I never tried to miss a training in, unarm is the best skill if your playing tag with an Imp or messing around in the hole. Last I tried it I was able to unarm a level 20 skeleton almost every shot ::cackles::
Ok that's about all for the skills and stats, lets move on shall we.
Wolves and Invasions:
What can I say about all those little Pups who think they can be gods and rush into a crowded room with monsters and get horribly ripped apart in less then a round. Usually at that point I try to rush in and run to the hole with them. Do not even atempt an invasion until your older, find a small part of town and continue to hunt till then. It's hard for wolves because we take so much damage, my best Idea is for you to go in combat deffensive or Normal (depending on the skill level of the critter) and just sit there and hack at it. My best idea was to bring a high level skeleton or Zombie and let him/her take the damage for me while I kill it in a few shots, this way you kill it they attack it and cin, but be sure to always split the loot(no one likes anyone who's greedy). By the way thanks for taking the hits for me Rotn and Kol.. ::grins and waves to them both::
Pups on Gsend
: ::screams and rips some fur out::
I can only say one thing on this, Gsend is not a toy! So much useless babbling goes on here it's kind of incoherent of why I keep my public sends open. Please try not to drive the wolf lords insane with Questions, if you need to post a reply to this message and I'll be happy to answer it for you.
When you get older:
When you get older I would expect you to treat the little ones with respect that you would treat anyone else of your family. The Pack is basically a Family, your sisters, and brothers are there. So treat them with respect. Here's a list of what you do need for you to get older and what ya don't need.. You do need to have a good time, this is a game after all and a game is for fun purposes. You do need to have friends, friends that will look after you incase ya get horrible mutalated by a Sleek black Dragon ::grimaces:: and that will get your back incase you need help. You need to be kind to your elders, all guilds included. A nice bow and wave is always apreciated. Don't back talk either, if ya know there wrong just nod and smile <g> always works. You don't need to be greedy, as a problem I always see, share your stuff. Don't horde it, I barely sell anything to the guild. Just drop it in the guild hall and gsend ya did that. You don't need to be a jerk, if I find your being a bully to small levels I'll find someone to beat ya into shape ::mumbles about finding an enforcer::
Wolves and Bosses:
::shudders::
I never did really like going against Bosses, Invasion boss monsters always have a wicked double attack, sometimes even a triple. But play smart, and always have cin and your stance ready to change at a moments notice.. I didn't get high by playing stupidly.
Wolves and Imps:
::sighs deeply::
This has always been a problem that wolves have faced, I always was able to talk to the Imp who was attacking my Pack. If it wasn't from Haze going around slaughtering everyone, would be some other Imp attack people. Me and Rotn have delt with our share of Imps in our lifetime and kind of edgey when it comes up in the subject (By the way I wish ya the best Rotn in your new form ::waves::) Imps go for wolves because we are a easy target, low percept and take great ammount of damage. If you do happen to have a problem with an Imp, first see what guild they are in. If they are in the Nightblades, talk to Nailz about it, she is a good person in solving most of any problems or disputes that are happening in there. She's a good person and I trust she can take the matter into hand and fix it. Plus she good at poping people with that spoon <g> ::rubs his snout:: If your problem is with the Shadow walkers, I hear Strix is CM of them and I'm sure he would handle theSituation accordingly.. If not talk to Oldfox, he is probably the best Imp I've seen play.. He's almost wolfish, cunning, quick, and sly likea wolf (nearly sly as me ::ponders::)
Wolves and there Equipment:
Ok, here's the basic low down on equip. Find a nice set of SA or BA (shinning alloy or bright alloy) thick padded armor, this is the best ingame armor. Wait until your older, say around 16 or above to find some BM or SM (bright mithril or shinning mithril) thick padded. I had my SA till around 20, upgraded to glowing mithril and lived on at. Usually wolf lords stack out for the armor, and will "Usually" drop it in the guild hall. For weapons find a nice Cold mace, wich I lived on till around level 6. It's a great weapon and kills Spiders and the crits in tamia local pretty fast. Or if a wolf lord is kind of enough to bring you a Firey fang or Tundra cat fang (wich are both great weapons) Thank them very much. I never got to use one ::sniffles:: but I hear there pretty good. When you get around 10 or so, find someone who has a SM or GM mist hammer, Firey whip, or a old spirit sabre (New ones are a level 15 restriction) As for a shield, since Fatigue drain has no meaning to a wolf, find a nice Tower shield or something like it and use that. At level 17, if you have a real good friend, or a lot of cash find someone selling a beast master whip. A shinning beast master whip is a very good weapon for a wolf, at least until 20. At 20 you can get probably the best weapon for a wolf, The Sceptre of Zden. This is a great weapon, fast and dish out a lot of damage. Last time I went on a Famer rampage I was averaging 400 plus on a farmer. At level 25 you can get a nice 2 hander, a Thunder Hammer is one of the best 2 handers in the game. Deals nice damage but I would go with the sceptre of zden for better deffense. As wolves we get jiped on the Armor deparment, get some spider silk leggings or some black slacks from grey mountains.. Ask a wolf lord to do a guild run for ya. This is probably the best leggings we get till they come up with some more Invasion legging ideas. Head gear.. find a alloy or shinning alloy executioner's hood, the Turbans of Majestry sadly do nothing (Despite the rumor about the stun). They although have a cool little Stoic effect! Find some alloy or snake skins boots (anything of the cloth type boots). The rest I leave up to you to see, just look at what the other Lords are wearing to get Ideas, but some items are only one time items.. so don't go asking around for a Copy of the Blood sword or etc.
Finnaly note from your weary CM:
Well, as I go back to real life, I would like to note one thing about somethings wich I should have said before I suicided, the CM of the wolves (if already not taken by someone) I would like a few people to go out for it, Hombre is a good wolf and a good leader. Puptoes was a small wolf when I last left, but has a good heart in it. Dann has the Exp and been around as long as I have. To the other Lords out there, all you need is a fair heart to lead and a good motavation, and that's about all I have to say.
::pants pants::
If you want to talk more about wolves or just have a good old talk with me.. Reply and I shall respond, or write to the email above and I'll talk to through there. See you all, and my best wishes.
