I frequent a fitness-related web forum, and we often branch off into non-fitness topics there, as well. A couple of days ago, one of the “girls” from the forum began a thread (discussion) about a television program she saw called “One Thing I Know For Sure.” That title got me thinking, and so I was prompted to write the following. ‘Hope you like it.

There are several things that I know for sure:

I know that my parents love me (all four of them)

I know that Ashley loves me.

I know that life isn’t always fair.

I know that if life were fair, then we’d never appreciate the good things.

I know that an adventure in life is worth whatever sacrifice I had to give in order to experience it.

I know that each time I get up to a new day, it is a beautiful and sacred gift.

I know that reading a good book next to the fireplace is far superior to anything I’ve ever seen on television.

I know that being “simple” and “easily amused” are the greatest things about me.

I know that it is better to have water rings on the furniture and traffic areas on the carpet than to squelch the ego and enthusiasm of a child with silly things like coasters, “off-limits” furniture, and “no running” rules.

I know that jumping on beds was one of the greatest joys of being 5 years old.

I know that, sometimes, the experience of the crime is worth the pain of the punishment…so, now and then, you just gotta break the rules.

I know that I’m grateful to be an American.

I know that Salsa Verde Doritos are one of mankind’s greatest achievements.

I know that when I started bicep work with my 15#’s instead of my 12#’s, I felt like a warrior goddess.

I know that the Internet is a viable and valid place to meet people, make genuine friends, and fall in love.

I know that I am grateful for the privilege of having been born into this time we live in…with so much technology and creature comfort that we are able to take for granted.

I know that I am a lucky woman. I have love in my life. I have material comfort in my life. I have purpose in my life. It just doesn’t get any better than this.

I know that there is a God up there and that, whoever He is, I’m grateful that He saw fit to give me life.

Carpe Diem…Every Day…Always
