The Power Zone
by Jim Doe
"WHAT THE hoo-hah is THAT?!"
The voice of Bunnie Rabbot carried throughout the sleepy village
of Knothole, mostly because it was projected out as an ear-splitting
scream. As residents of the village poked their heads out into the early
morning light, they were treated to two strange sights.
The first, while strange, was not completely out of place. It was
Bunnie, wearing nothing but a night gown, running away from her hut and
screaming her head off. The second was a huge golden glow flowing from
her hut, a slightly more irregular sight.
Bunnie bounded her way amongst the huts, stopping every once in a
while to knock on a door. One by one, the core Knothole Freedom Fighters
were awakened by furious pounding.
"Whazzup, Sonic?" Tails asked sleepily.
His roommate, Sonic T. Hedgehog, the self-proclaimed fastest thing
alive, rubbed his eyes and yawned. "I dunno," he said. "I think Bunnie
flipped or something."
Soon, all of the Freedom Fighters had gotten dressed - including
Bunnie, who borrowed some clothes from Sally - and gathered around the
still glowing hut.
"Uh, these clothes don' leave much t'th'imagination, do they,
Sally girl?" Bunnie asked as she tugged the tight fitting vest she was
wearing.
"Sorry, it's all I could come up with." Princess Sally Acorn
pulled her palm-top computer out. "Nicole, scan the anomaly in Bunnie's
hut and identify."
"Scanning, Sally," the computer chirped.
"It's a zone portal," Sonic yawned.
"How do you know?" Sally asked.
"I've seen millions of 'em. I'd recognize one in my sleep." He
yawned again. "Which I think I'm provin' right now . . . "
