BACKGROUND: When Booster broke into Marrymore wedding chapel with plans to marry Princess Peach, Chef Torte did the only thing he could do: built the world's greatest wedding cake. Slaving for hours with his apprentice, the final result was a cake so big, so delicious, and so overwhelming that it actually seemed alive!
Nobody is quite sure how, but the cake really did come to life, and only the heroic actions of Mario (and Booster) stopped the cake from taking over the chapel completely. To this day, Chef Torte and his apprentice claim no knowledge of how Bundt came to life.
OTHER BACKGROUND INFO:
"Nobody expects to battle a six foot wide wedding cake, but sometimes you have to be prepared for anything. Mario and crew should dig in against Bundt using REgular Attacks and Mario's Jump Attacks. Considering that it's just a dessert, the Bundt cake has a surprising command of Special Attacks. It hurls Sandstorm, Blizzard, and Diamond Saw at your party. In the end, Booster steps in and eats the cake in one vast gulp. Bon appetite." - SMRPG Player's Guide.
QUOTES:
"Congratulations." -SMRPG
BATTLE PLAN:
Attack Pattern: Bundt uses a wide variety of special attacks, including Lulla Bye, which puts one character to sleep; Drain Beam, which steals a bit of every character's energy; Glowing Shot, a projectile that hits one character for medium damage; Sandstorm, which hits everyone and may "scare" them; Blizzard, which causes medium damage to all characters; and Diamond Saw, which hits one character and causes heavy damage.
He also has a regular attack which is used very rarely. This is probably just as well, since it is hard to block this attack. Finally, partway through the battle, you will destroy the upper layers of Bundt, and only the bottom layer (called "raspberry") will be left. Raspberry uses the same attacks as Bundt, but only gets one attack per round, and seems to use Sandstorm an awful lot.
Basic Strategies: When you start fighting Bundt, it has several lit candles on its head. I think you have to put out all of the candles before you can defeat Bundt, although it does seem to take damage even while the candles are burning.
You will want to stick to regular attacks for most of the fight. Contrary to what the Player's Guide claims, Jump attacks don't work all that well on Bundt, although they cause a bit more damage than regular ones when you're fighting Raspberry.
Advanced Strategies:Take Mallow into the battle against Bundt. Bowser and Geno are more or less equally good choices for the third character, since they will mainly use regular attacks.
Any attack will blow out Bundt's candles, but they can re-light, so try to stick to a constant barrage of regular attacks when there are candles to blow out. Mallow should heal as necessary, but try to concentrate on blowing candles out if he can.
Blocking Bundt's regular attack is a bit difficult, as it doesn't move much before attacking. Bundt will try to "bite" a character from where he stands, and you need to press A as the bite occurs. It is also possible to block the Glowing Shot attack (a small glowing ball is fired toward one character) by pressing A as it strikes its target.
