BACKGROUND:
Grate Guy dresses up as a clown with loads of makeup and a bright pink costume.
He also rolls around on a ball and likes blowing on the horn that he uses for
his act.
Grate Guy and Knife Guy are partners in a travelling entertainers' act. Grate Guy
is generally given credit for being the more intelligent of the two, and he
has impressive magic skills. On the other hand, he doesn't have the fast
reflexes of his partner.
The two Guys' wandering days came to an end when they met Booster. He now employs
them full-time at his Tower, where they keep him entertained, and act as
makeshift bodyguards.

OTHER BACKGROUND INFO:
"The real test in the tower comes from the two clowns on the balcony. When you
step outside to rescue the princess, you run afoul of htis sharp pair who want
nothing so much as to juggle with Mario's life. You should concentrate your party's
attack and defeat one of the Guys first....Grate Guy can't stand Mallow's Thunderbolt."
- SMRPG Player's Guide
"Remember Grate Guy, one of Booster's Buddies? He's moved into the entertainment
business, opening one of the swankiest joints around. Oh, and did you remember
to bring your member's card? A casino this exclusive won't accept just anybody,
you know." - SMRPG Player's Guide

BATTLE PLAN:
Attack Pattern:
Knife Guy and Grate Guy ambush you on Booster's balcony. There's nothing you can
do to avoid them.
Grate Guy has a number of powerful magic attacks: Echo Finder will "mute" one of
your characters, Meteor Blast hits the entire team for medium damage, and he also
fires a Sleepy Bubble which will put one character to sleep. He tends to mix up
his magic attacks and regular attack fairly evenly.
Basic Fighting Strategies:
Regular attacks work well, as do Mallow's Thunder attacks. You should concentrate
on one of the "Guys" at a time. Since he usually attacks more often, and has
less HP, Knife Guy is the best choice. Grate Guy's powerful magic can be dangerous,
so attacking him first would be OK as well, in the end, either one is probably a
good first target.
Advanced Strategies:
The best team to take in to this battle is probably Mario, Mallow and Geno, although
Bowser and Geno are sort of interchangeable. Both will probably spend most of their
time doing regular attacks. Mallow is important because of his HP Rain spell.
If the two Guys team up on you, all you can really do is continue to attack your
first choice. Either you'll defeat him, or they'll give up on the team attack
after a while.
In addition to Thunder, Jump and Geno Beam work fairly well on Grate Guy, although
regular attacks are probably more efficient. Bowser's Terrorize works OK, you might
want to use it at the beginning of the fight if he's in your team, but he will
want to stick to regular attacks, otherwise.
Finally, when Grate Guy does a regular attack, he basically rolls up to one of the
party members on his ball, rolls the ball two or three times, and then his head
springs in the air like a Jack-in-the-Box. Press A just as his head springs up
(use the rolling to help you predict this).
