BACKGROUND: Greapers are said to be the ghostly remains of the sailors that once inhabited the ship which Jonathan Jones and King Kalamari control at the bottom of the sea. Now these spirits haunt the halls of the ship and try to spook invaders.
Interestingly, while these ghosts were probably King Kalamari's victims many years ago, it seems that they don't bother him or Jonathan Jones. The ghosts aren't under Jones' control, either, but it seems they have come to live in harmony with their fishy neighbours.
Greapers can be recognized by the orange robes they wear and the sickles they carry. They often team up with Reachers, living skeletons of the ship's crew that still hold on to their treasure after all these years.

BATTLE PLAN:
Attack Pattern: On the map, Greapers materialize out of thin air, fly in a straight line, and then disappear again. This makes them fairly good at surprise attacks. In battle, they use a wide variety of special moves: Blizzard hits all party members for medium damage, Lightning Orb hits one character for low damage, and Crystal hits one medium damage. Deathsicle will cause medium damage and create fear in one character. Greapers also occasionally attack with their sickles.
Basic Fighting Strategies: Greapers will take about two timed hits to beat, and are a good choice for your first target. Magic doesn't work very well in general, although Geno Beam is good, and Poison Gas is more effective on these monsters than it is on most. Like most ghosts, Greapers don't like Pure Water.
Advanced Strategies: Regular timed hits are probably your best bet for fighting Greapers. Don't waste FP on them, and try to attack them early on, as they're easier to beat than Reachers. You may also get Lucky by beating them earlier. You can beat them instantly with Pure Water, and they may leave one behind, so you might try this as well.
A Greaper's regular attack consists of "warping" from his spot on the battlefield to the character he wants to attack, lifting his sickle, and then slashing that character. Try to press A right at the beginning of the slash to block the attack.
