Protoss Vs. Terran

The Story:

The Terrans are actually the race that give Landyl the most trouble.

Three common ways to beat Terran with Protoss:

Rush hard, rush early:
How:
Find your opponett, and rush with the zealots you've got (hopefully at least 6-8). If you attack fast enough, the terran will most likely not have a field of bunkers around his town. He should have a few, though, but it should be easy enough to aviod them (or you could take them out).
When to use:
"Open terrain" land maps- where he doesn't have just one chokepoint to defend.
How it works:
He can't defend an assault from all angles yet. Find the back way in and aviod the bunkers. Attack what you can. Barracks... supply depots, whatever. Getting at some of their scvs is a big plus.
Problems with this strat:
You're in trouble if they fend you off. If you die- hold back. Watch out for the stimmed marine/firebat combo that might soon be coming your way.
Take it to the skies:
How:
Build some scouts to take decisive command of the air. Protoss have a major advantage over terrans in the skies. Scouts do their full 24 damage air-to-air. Scouts take out wraith when outnumbered almost 2:1, and 2 scouts can take down a battlecruiser.
When to use:
Whenever. Typically when both players are stalemated on the ground.
How it works:
With command of the air, you can conduct hit-and-run operations, and expand to far off islands where you're unlikey to be found. Anyway, with air superiority, nothing will attack you there anyway... -- Thus, on many maps, control of the air will bring you victory.
Problems with this strat:
  • They have cloaked wraiths. Easy to stop- send an observer along.
  • They've got tons of golaiths. Zealots and dragoons crush goliaths- take them out before bringing in the scouts.
  • They've build missile turrets all over the place. Use your ground armies to take them out, and bring in observers to make sure they don't try it again.
  • Psi Storm:
    How:
    Build high templar, research Psi Storm, use it. It's the most deadly spell in the game.
    When to use:
    Whenever. Works very well against marines/firebats.
    How it works:
    Psi Storm is incredibly powerful.  It'll kill anything with around 100hp without a problem. Remember the templar energy upgrade- with it you can get 3 psi storms out of each temple before they're out of energy.
    It stops terran infantry without a problem. A well-placed psi storm can kill over 20 units. Although it may not kill, it's still very usefull againt other terran units. You can even cast it where you think there are cloaked wraiths.
    Problems with this strat:
  • Protect those templars! A siege tank assault or cloaked wraith surprise attack can kill your templar before you remember them.
  • You might not get psi storm in time. Get it as fast as you can- but don't sacrifice units or defenses for it.
  • Back
