In Comparison:

  • Reavers have an amazingly powerful attack with a large area of effect.
  • One reaver can take out an entire army of terran infantry when used correctly.
  • Although they do more damage, they don't have the range of siege tanks.
  • Effective Uses:

  • Amazing ground defense. One correctly placed scarab can wipe out a large part of an attacking force.
  • Incredible offensive weapons. Either take out charging enemy troops or kill buildings with ease.
  • When dropped from a shuttle at strategic locations (like a mineral line). Just a few scarabs will wipe out many peon units and it'll still attack enemy troops.
  • Good when used with...

  • Dragoons. Let the reaver do it's thing while the dragoons kill whatever is attacking the reaver.
  • Zealots. The zealots distract as the reavers take out strategic buildings.
  • Shuttles. Shuttle-drop them behind enemy lines. Ouch.
  • Arbiters. Recall a few behind enemy lines and attack on two flanks at once!
  • Reavers are slow and expensive, but very cost efficient when used appropriately.
