Initiatives / Spending

When combat is called, an ST or NT must be present to run the combat for you. First off, they are the referees. Secondly, they can assign nasty things like derrangements, botch troubles and their ilk, as well as calling for degeneration rolls (those are those nasty things that cause you to loose conscience and humanity), frenzy rolls and rotschreck rolls (when you are faced with a vampire's greatest fear). Lastly, most of them have nifty pop ups that tell you what to roll.

Always follow the ST/NT calls and directions. If you have a discrepancy or concern, feel free to email the logs for review to Cor_ai@webtv.net .

Now, on to the fun stuff....
Now that you have politely messaged an ST or NT with "Can you help us run a combat in #vtm-bungaloo?" and have the ST there, she will say "INITS" or will have a nice pop up saying everyone in the mix....do this.
Shake your bon bon, shake your bon bon.

To roll inits, you roll one die.
1d10

You then take your roll, say Billy rolled an 8, and add it to the sum of your dexterity + wits.
Ooooh Algebra!

Okay...so I look on my sheet.... Billy has a dexterity of 2 (I'm limber as a brick) and a wits of 5 (hey, I'm quick).
So 2 + 5 = 7

That is your INITIATIVE RATING.

I now take the 7 and add it to what I rolled...an 8.
My inits score for this round is =15=.

Now the ST will call for each person to state their action, spend blood / willpower and hold.
This is done from the lowest init score to the highest.
If you're confused still, just watch the screen and the ST will prompt you.

What you do, when asked to declare action, blood spent, etc is to type up something like this:
Billy spends a bp to Celerity 3, a bp to dexterity and a bp to strength, kicking Joe Shmoe. Spending a wp to hit.

So how much blood can I spend?

Well, that is determined by your Generation:
An 8th gen can use 3 bp per round.
A 9th gen can spend 2 bp per round.
10th gen or higher can spend 1 bp per round, unless you took the thin blood flaw and, well, if you did that (winces) may God have mercy on your soul.

How much willpower can I spend?

Only one WP point may be spent, per round unless someone hits you with Dominate or it's ilk, in which case the ST will prompt you that you may spend X amount of WP points to attempt to overcome the effects.

Oh cool, so I can spend a WP on an auto success?

Sure can, though they can still dodge, block, parry, thrust (zing! ~thwaps Billy in the beak). Just keep track of how much Willpower you are spending because, well, if you have a normal pool of 5 WP and you spend 3 of those, it is going to bite if someone does something icky to you and you can't spend the WP to resist the fact that the Nosferatu that uses Dominate, wants you to play strip poker with him.

So what can I spend blood on?

Blood can be used to pump up your Physical Attributes (strength, dexterity and stamina) up to your trait max which, considering the characters in our room, would be 5 dots in any of those 3. So you can pump up the body until you have a 5 in strength, a 5 in dexterity and a 5 in stamina. You must also use blood to activate certain Disciplines, such as Celerity (if you're not sure, ask an ST). Then you may also spend blood to heal wound levels... you heal one wound level per blood point spent, provided they are not aggrivated wounds.

So now you have spent blood and willpower (if you choose to do so). You have declared your action.

Now you wait for the ST.

They will tell you what to roll and when to roll it.

Please be patient.
