Traps

Haven: A vampire's "home"' where she finds sanctuary from the sun.

Most of us know this term... If you play a Kindred character, it's that lil old place where you hang your hat. But there are rules to Havens too, just as there are rules about gear and weapons and such things.

People always ask me what makes a good character sheet. I would have to say one that is exciting, entertaining and well-thought-out. How can a character sheet be that? Easy... pay attention to detail.

As a Storyteller, we have to make certain rules; ie: Let us say that Tony is going, uninvited, to visit the Prince of the city. There are rolls that must be made and, because of this, one must pay attention to details.

If, as a player or a Storyteller, simply say "Vespera lives in an abandoned warehouse," then that is ALL we have folks... We have a Prince, sleeping on the floor, in an abandoned warehouse.

You can't pull ghouls, guards, security cameras, steel doors, booby traps, etc. out of your ....errr thin air. It must all be sent into the storytellers and, if you are trying to say that your Kindred has installed a state of the line security system, then I'd best see a dot in security there or the resources for her to have hired someone to do it :)

If you don't give me a description then I am forced to say, "Alright...they are trying to break into my house." and, believe you me, giving it a difficulty of 6 is really pushing your luck... to break into this place, diff is probably a 4.

But, as a Storyteller, while it is my job to create and assist with Storylines, it is not my job to create your character or any additions to that character. If you have special locks, traps or guards standing by, then you must send me the statistics at Cor_ai@webtv.net so I can put it in your file. Then, should someone try to break in, you can tell the ST that you have a descript ok'd by Anarch, sitting in your character's file.

Let's be real guys... If it's not in the files, it doesn't exist from this point on. Demanding such a thing from our players ensures that all are protected.

A) It ensures that you always play the traps, etc. the same and don't forget any and it B) ensures that the players aren't having these made up, to combat them, as the scene wears on. I mean, we've all had it happen and don't we all hate it when someone decides that something didn't go right so, all of a sudden, there's a tiger trap right in front of your foot and you're already taking that step... YOWZA!

So, from now on, if it's not in my files, it isn't there boils and ghouls. Kinda explanatory, when you think about it, considering we require a character to submit a gear listing, prior to approval.

This rule applies to both STs, NTs and players, all the same. No one gets an easy out. No one gets an exception. So, if you wish to protct your haven with fancy goodies or dress it up with a few ghouls, you best do the work behind it.

If you need assistance, that's what I am here for.

Anarch out.
