Wario Land
Mike's Review
I consider this side-scrolling creation the best game for the Virtual Boy. Wario Land displays has detailed character animation that keeps you entertained. Treasures hidden add replay value, as well as an extra challenge. Like Super Mario Bros. for the NES, after you beat the game the first time (with all the treasure), you can decide to go on a second quest, which is a lot more challenging and it has different treasure.
There are four endings in this game, so it's kind of fun to get a new every so often. Unfortunatly, the best ending is when you don't get all the treasures. The various endings are:

  • First Quest: Wario gets a big sack of gold and flies away on a magic carpet with the gold and a magic lamp (actually it look more like a bottle, like I Dream of Jeanie).
  • Second Quest: Same as the first quest's ending, except the lamp now has a genie comming out of it.
  • Beating Your Time: If you beat your time on the first or second quest, you get the same endings described above, except there is a sexy vixen riding along with Wario fanning him.
  • First of Second Quest without Treasure: Wario gets a sack of gold and returns to his plane to find several gerbil-like guys taking it apart. Wario is furious, because how is he going to get home? He's about to beat their asses, when one of these gerbils whispers in his ear. Wario thinks whatever the gerbil said was a good idea, and he runs of the screen, leaving his gold behind. The gerbil steals it and Wario flies away using a couple of leaves as wings.

    The problem with Wario Land? It's a little bit too easy. You can easily beat the game in a couple hours. My best times, if anybody is intersested, are 0:37:07 for the first quest and 0:43:13 for the second quest, and that with all the treasure!
    Overall, this game is definatly worth buying, so if you see it, grab it!!
