Vital Stats
I've said it once and i'll say it again, Sony needs to make Crash their mascot. Having said that, CTR is a racing game similar to MarioKart 64. CTR is created with a completely new engine. The characters are all completely polygonal, not sprites as those characters in Chocobo Racing and N64's Mario Kart 64. These characters are sharp looking, and well textured. What was really mind-boggling was that the four-player mode looked stunning. The game plays in four-player split screen with a multitap, and it moves with almost no loss of frame rate at all. The textures were still just as good looking as in the single-player mode, and the characters move quickly and respond just as you would want them too, quickly and accurately. The power-up system is different than other kart games. Players earn power by performing powerslides and jumps, and as they pull those off, the power meter runs to the maximum. The game is filled with powerups, too, from targeting missiles to burn crates to oil slicks. This sounds like a ton of fun. Modes include Adventure, Time Trial, Versus, Gran Prix, and Battle modes.
