Excitebike 64

One of the ever popular and classic games for Nintendo is making the jump to the N64. Excitebike. This motor cycle game was one of the first games for the original Nintendo Entertainment System. Chances are if you owned a Nintendo you have this game. Excitebike featured additive and challenging motor cycle racing. The most impressive part of the game however, was Excitebike's track editor. Players could design thier own track with different sized bumps and jumps, and then race on it. This feature allowed for totally different tracks to race on giving the game a lasting appeal.

Excitebike 64 looks to keep some of the same style of the original that made it so great. The graphics have been updated with full 3D bikes and tracks. The linear side-scrolling racing is gone, and has been switched to a behind-the-back view along with many twists, turns, and of course, jumps. Players can drive just about anywhere with a full range of motion, and crash just about into anything. This is where the main differences between the game stop though. The gameplay of Excitebike 64 is close to the feel of the original, with its regular acceleration button and the turbo button. The overheating is also included in the game where players have to watch the engine temperature and to not overuse the turbo button. The control of the bike is also fairly the same, where you need to center the bike before landing, otherwise flipping off of the bike as in the original.

Excitebike 64 has also been included with a comprehensive stunt system. By using the C-buttons and the analog in combination, players can pull of one of 28 different stunts and tricks, such as kick outs and no-handed or no-legged jumps. You still need to make sure you land them though, or you'll be taking a serious tumble. 12 different tracks will be at your dispense, ranging from jungles, forests, and dirt stadiums, along with the famous track editor. Eight other computer controlled biker can be chosen for you to race against and leave them in your dust.

It looks as if the classic motor cycle racer everyone has grown to love will be making a powerful appearance on the N64. Excitebike 64 strives to keep true to the original, along with updated 3D graphics, and yes, it does include a 4-player mode, all running in a medium-high resolution mode. Excitebike 64 looks to bring all the fun of the original back again on the N64.
