The PC hit game is making its way to
the N64. This oddly themed game of a bunch of war-driven
worms fighting it out looks to be one of the most
addictive games ever. Worms: Armageddon has you
controlling a group of worm soldiers with a high powered
arsenal of various weaponry, with your mission being to
eliminate the opposing worms.
Worms:
Armageddon is about strategy. The turn-based style
gameplay keeps you thinking, as you need to plan what to
do next, how to take out the opposing worms, what weapon
you should use, and also minimizing damage taken. Your
army of soldiers and the enemy's alternate turns, with
each team having a set amount of time to move and fire
with their worms. Teams move over various shaped and
themed landscape as they try to eliminate the other. The
destructable landscape also adds a twist to it, with
weapons blowing of parts of the land or creating holes.
Landscapes also vary immensely with bridges, cliffs, and
caves along with different theming such as snow, rock,
grass, laboratorys, and skyscrapers.
Worms:
Armageddon also includes a vast arsenal of weapons at
your diposal to erradicate the enemy. Weapons range from
the ever-popular bazooka, to the simple, yet effective
shotgun, as well as dynamite, grenades, and mines. Tools
are also included to help you out such as jet-packs,
ninja ropes, and parachutes, all to help you reach your
opponent. Each weapon acts differently, requiring you to
aim, adjust the power and timing, and compensate for wind.
All this adds up to a strategic, skillful, and fun time
wasting your opponent.
Voices
are included for all worms, adding a little humor to the
game. The worms will get mad when hit, and act
accordingly to other events that happen in the game. The
voice samples are great and in abundance, with many
different sayings along with different styles and accents.
Worms: Armageddon looks to be one of the most
addictive N64 games yet, with its strategic turn-based
style gameplay. Worms: Armageddon will also be four
players, so you and 3 others can battle it out all you
want. The wacky concept of Worms: Armageddon, but
skillfully done, has created one of the most addictive
games out today.
