1. INTRODUCTION

This section is for those readers who just picked this
file up to see what Metal and Lace is about. Those who have
the game, skip to the next section and ignore this jargon.

What can be said about Metal and Lace? Well, it's one of
those types of games that you can never really say what it
is or what it was. The main game itself is a clone/parody
of the Street Fighter genre games, in other words,
one-on-one. But it goes just a bit farther than that. You
have to buy your armor (you don't get to pick a character,
but you can create your own personality) from a choice of
about six. Then you fight against the meanest fighters, the
Robo-Babes. Once you wax them off, you fight a Champion
(much like a boss), and once he/she is gone, you have to
fight the Robo-Babes again, but this time they're harder,
then another Champion. And it continues like that until you
get to the Grand Champion, Gunder (for those of you who have
played 'Cobra Mission' like I have, he is actually Kaiser).
But there is one extra 'bonus' (if you would like to call it
that). Each time you flatten the Robo-Babes and are about
to fight the champion, you can see the Robo-Babes on the
Dance Floor. But the thing is, each time you fight them,
more and more clothing disappears. And that's it for the
   introduction boys and girls!

2. I NEED MONEY!

This section deals with when you need money, and fast!
And there is a quirk with the game. You can do all of these
after every battle! It's best to save it each time you get
something good, and restore it each time something bad
   happens.

First of all, you can talk to nearly anything in this game.
Here are some of the things you can get, and some of the
   things you can lose:

   Ashtray (on the bar):
It seems mad that people smoke, and it really hates gum.
If you keep talking to him, he'll give you $200 for
airfare to go home (but you don't want to go home, do
you?) or be impressed with your abilities and increase
your win status by 1. On the other hand, you'll have to
pay for the Robo-Babes drinks and one point ($75).

   Bartender:
This guy us pretty tough and used to work on Cobra Island.
He'll give you $250 (Jaimee said to give it to you).
Sometimes, you'll have to settle your tab (which is only
about $30). He'll also sell you some stuff. It'll cost
     $1500, and you'll get 3 BATTERY-IIIs.

   Radio:
Listen to the radio for some humor. You can win $500
(compliments of K.I.L.L.). You can also lose a Robo-Armor
if you have more than one.

   Floor:
The floor is mad that everyone is stepping on him and they
haven't cleaned their shoes. He'll ask you to pick something
up off the floor (which is a $200 bill) and you can even
get some hidden Robo-Armor. Sometimes you'll slip and your
     battery will leak.

   Beer Keg:
This Irish speaking keg is drunk as a skunk. He'll give you
$150 to leave him alone (but this is a computer game, so
keep at it), and you can even find a hidden Neural Amp.
You might get drunk (which will make your battery leak) or
someone may pick your pockets (you'll lose $1000)!

   Beer Can (in Jaimee's hand):
This Mickey Mouse sounding beer can wants to be a keg in
its next life. You can find some money in it (random from
$100 to $500) or get Greased Down by the Robo-Babes (all
of your armors will have their energy refilled). Don't let
it try to fix your armor, or it will go on the blink.
And try not to spill any beer on your armor!
Another note on this Beer Can, if you talk to it when
Jaimee is drinking out of it, you'll always get money.

   Tough Guy:
Arnold when he's older (and bigger), he doesn't like you
hanging around Jaimee. But other than that, you can get
$500, $250, and 1 of each type of BATTERY from him. But,
if he hits you, all of your armors will take some damage.

   Mirror:
This mirror insists that everyone is vain. About the only
things you can get from it is $20 for winning an ugliest
person contest, and it will teleport you to a battle
     without playing the entrance fee.
In a very rare instance, it may even DUPLICATE one of your
     armors.

   Credits:
Point to the sign that gives the credits. Each time you
watch it all of the way through, you'll receive $1000, but
     it takes a while.

3. I NEED EXPERIENCE!

This section shows you a quick way of building up the abilities
   of your armor.

   First, create a dummy character, and have it buy some armor;
it doesn't matter which type. Now, go to the two guys at the
table and pay them the $25 for beers and you can go fight.
Here's the key. Whatever character needs the experience, have
them do one of two things. If they need to build OFFENSE,
have the dummy character defend while the other attacks. If
they need to build DEFENSE, then have the dummy character
attack while the other defends. It is easier to build DEFENSE
than OFFENSE; almost twice as easy. You may be here for a
while, but it's better in the long run.

4. I NEED MORE ROBO-ARMOR!

You need more armor? See the 'I NEED MORE MONEY!' section
under 'Floor' for more on this.

5. MISCELANEOUS STUFF

This section covers stuff that really doesn't fit in the
other categories, and some weird stuff you might want to try.

   Old Man's Shop:
The password to the Old Man's Shop is 'Jaimee'. Remember
that it's two "e"s. If you use only one "e", you'll get a
different response when you first encounter him, but after
that, there really isn't much difference.

   Statistics:
Point to your Cash bar in the bar to see your battle
statistics, including number of matches, number of
Championships won, your experience level with different
     Armors, and much more.

   Generic Woman:
Tip the Generic Woman twice. If's your character is a
male, then 'Cobra Mission' players will get a surprise.

6. THE CHAMPIONS

Here are the Robo-Armors that the Champions use:
(note that you have to beat the Champions 3 rounds instead
   of the normal 2)

   Jamaal Wilkerson -
uses and Anna, Silver Dragon, and then a Rogue

   Eileen "Bombast" Ballentine -
uses a Sky Hound for all 3 rounds

   Skuzz MacAlfie -
uses a Silver Dragon all 3 rounds

   Rachel Sapperstein -
uses Mimi's and Sun C's for the 3 rounds

7. HELP! GUNDER IS KICKIN' MY ASS!

Gunder's a real pain. He fights like everyone else, it's just
that you have to fight him 6 (that's right SIX) rounds to
beat him! His energy is maxxed out for each Armor (250 HP) and
usually has a few tricks up his sleeve.

         ROUND AND ARMOR
         ===============
         Round One: Rogue
         Round Two: Anna
         Round Three: Sky Hound
         Round Four: Mistress
         Round Five: Sun C
         Round Six: Silver Dragon

The best way to prepare for him is to buy enough Neural Amps
to max out your energy for each round, and enough DELUXE
shields (3) for each round. And finally, enough BATTERY-IIIs
to repair yourself after each battle, and enough BOOSTER-IIIs
to get the full 60 seconds of extra power! (too bad you couldn't
   buy extra luck...)
