The world said good-bye to Jackie Robinson, Bloody Sunday was added to the history books, the Grateful Dead went big-time and Nixon was president of the United States of America. The year was 1972 and on the cold night of November 9th, somewhere in a Brooklyn hospital, Monroe and Joline Kilman became the proud parents of their second son, Alexander Harold Kilman.

When young Alex was only one his mother died giving birth to his younger sister, Kathrine, leaving his father, who was a full time police officer, to raise Alex, Katie, and their older brother Shawn, alone. In the summer of 1980 however, Officer Monroe Kilman was shot dead during a shoot-out with a group of bank robbers who ended up getting away clean. Alex, Shawn, and Katie were then taken under the wing of their father's brother, their Uncle Robert, who was very providing being the rich owner of an automobile manufacturing plant and an automotive repair shop, but who never was a very affectionate parent.

Alex grew up bitter and unattended, but kept himself occupied by helping the mechanics in his uncle's automotive factory. Al was a natural with machines and his uncle made sure he learned everything there was in the plant. Robert knew the boy was exceptionally intelligent, and was gifted with mechanics and paid his way through the best mechanical and electrical schooling facilities in the country, encouraging him to apply his abilities to something more important than his auto factory.

When Al finished schooling and earned his Ph.D in mechanical engineering he began doing freelance mechanical and electrical jobs and after awhile he became well known by the commercial world and was frequently hired by major industries to take care of emergency mechanical repairs.

One day Al was approached by two men dressed in expensive black Italian suits and they offered him a job he couldn't refuse-- a job designing and building combat vehicles and weapons, with a great supply of resources and almost no creative limitations-- best of all a big salary.

The company was called AriesTech, and they had employed Al to join their team of mechanical engineers involved in the designing of military vehicles and weapons that were sold to the American military forces. Al fit in instantly and his advanced abilities excelled even faster after being apprenticed to the great German engineer, Dr. Henrich Von Gustein.

Al was involved with the construction of many military weapons including the one of a kind, "Defender" powerarmor, used by the legendary superhero of the same name, and built by Kilman and Von Gustein alone.

Eventually, with encouragement from Von Gustein, he took off with $4,000,000 worth of AriesTech supplies, and funded vehicles (built and designed by Kilman and Von Gustein) to use to hunt down the man who killed his father along with every other villainous bastard on the streets, not realizing the hippocracy of his own actions.

Dr. Alexander H. Kilman became known to the public as the Dark Rider, and villains everywhere learned to become wary of him and the trademark shotguns he totes. Unfortunately, Dark Rider often walks the line that lays between hero and villain himself, taking out his lifelong anger and pain on every hood and goon he finds, and playing the role of judge, jury, and executioner.

Despite his moral flaws he has become a priceless addition to his team, with his mechanical and electrical knowledge and never ending drive to protect the innocent from his dark fate.
