Elemancy is probably the most logical (and in my opinioin easiest to understand) school of magic there is... however using elemancy for things such as telekinetics/illutions/time-travel is surprisingly inefficient... just thought i'd mention that first off

anyway, the way i see it there are 8 elements:

1-4: Earth, Air, Fire, Water
5&6: Lightness and Darkness
7&8: Push and Pull
Light is often associated with fire and Dark is often associated with Earth (think about it, 99.999...% of a chunk of earth is in darkness. equal but opposite with fire) This is because light has an extremely tight bond w/ fire just like earth does w/ dark
Then why are they seperate elements? Well, take into consideration that in magic, it is possible to have black fire and/or glowing earth...

the push and pull work similar to how Estlor explains force, so i won't really go into it (difficult to explain too, and full relationship with it and other elements is strenuous to grasp)

Heat and Cold

: Are heat and cold elements? nope. however there is something you should know: heat is a derivative of fire, as cold is a derivative of water. another one of those cool inter-relationships of the elements ; )

Lightning

: What exactly is lightning anyway? How about this
Lighting is 1 part fire per 10 parts push
