Moto Racer is the second motorcycle racing game to
arrive on the PlayStation, and it is by far the best I've seen on the
PlayStation, or any other console for that matter. Combining both
Speed Bike and Motorcross racing, Moto Racer is every two-wheeled
racing fan's dream game. Possesing both wickedly fast graphics and
killer gameplay, Moto Racer is one of the best console racing games I
have ever seen.
The graphics in Moto Racer are ground-breaking.
The graphics are smooth and colorful, and the unbelievably fast frame
rate creates a realistic feeling of speed. There is some minor
pop-up, but you are literaly going too fast to even notice it. As I
mentioned before, Moto Racer conveys speed very realistically,
especially in the first person view, which gives the player an
exhilarating feeling that they are actually going 200 mph. Even in
the two player split-screen mode, the game's incredible graphics
don't suffer much.
The sound is nicely executed as not disturb the
action of the game, but to enhance it. The music is not what you
would expect from a racing game. The hard rock riffs have been
replaced by what my little brother called "Fred Myer's music", you
know, the music they play in department stores. The music isn't
quite that bad, but that is the best way to describe it. The sounds
add much to the action of the game. The engine sounds are realistic
and thankfuly don't sound like lawnmower engines. The screeching of
the tires and other essential racing sounds are pulled off nicely as
well.
If you never use the brakes in racing games, you
had better start when you play Moto Racer. The control is actually
quite good, even with the digital pad. The only problem that people
may have is at first the speed is so dissorienting that it may be
hard to judge when the turns start, but overall, the control
rocks.
Moto Racer isn't just for Speed and Motocross bike
racing fans, every PlayStation racer should have Moto Racer in their
collection. The combination of Speed Bike and Motocross racing
really sets this game apart from all other competitors. Moto Racer
will definetly satisfy every racer's need for speed.
