Ever sit around with
your friends and discuss who could kick who's ass in the Star Wars
universe, well here's you chance to find out. You knew it was going
to happen, it's a Star Wars fighting game. Unfortunately, this game
is not perfect, and will mainly be only accepted by Star Wars fans
and not true fighting game officionados.
The graphic department is one area in which Teras
Kasi does somewhat well. The characters themselves look very much
like their movie counterparts, especially when you are selecting your
fighters, but during actual gameplay, they are somewhat plain
looking. The animated background during battle add to the flavor of
the game. You get the chance to fight in such memorable settings as
Hoth, The Rancor Pit, The Carbon Freezing Chamber, and Endor.
The music just rocks. Even though the music is
great, the developers didn't really have to do that much with it,
they just took the original scores from the Trilogy and transfered
them directly into the game. The sounds are also well done and come
straight from the Trilogy. The blasters sound cool and the light
sabers also retain their movie likenesses. Each fighting has his or
her own victory frases as well.
The contol is one aspect of Teras Kasi that is
really lacking. At first it seems like the fighters are fighting in
quicksand. Sometimes you can get knocked down, and it will take a
good ten seconds to get up, leaving you open for attacks. Sometimes
when you are in close to your opponent, your hits seem to miss,
leaving yourself open for a hurtful counter attack.
Overall, Teras Kasi will enthrall Star Wars nuts
who are excited by the fact that they can play as Darth Vader and
kick the living crap out of Luke Skywalker. But that may be the only
crowd that this game will attract. Non Star Wars fans will only want
to rent this one.
