Information:

Born: 31st December 1846, Farmer in Knox County
Private, 121st Ohio Infantry Volunteers, Company H
Enlistment: 11th September 1862
Military Service: 11th September 1862 to 8th June 1865
Discharged 8th June 1865 at age 19 in Washington DC after 3 years of service.
Death: 25th December 1925

   They had run out of ammo for the cannons, so they used nails,chains,anything that they could find went into the cannons.
   When there was no drinking water they were told to cut leather off of their shoes and chew it to get salt out of the leather and help with their thirst.
   Francis was hid in a trundle bed of a negro family to prevent him from being captured by Confederate soldiers.
