Rules from other books have been marked. It might be that some have been left out, but I think I got most of them:
Combat & Tactics * High level Handbook ** Forgotten Realms Adventures *** Dragon Magazine **** Psionicists Handbook ***** Tome of Magic ****** Ole's Houserule ******* Notes in end *(#)*
Please excuse my sometimes bad wording, English is not my mother language (standard ADND-L excuse).
Kalband is a PC of mine, and I've also used him as a persona at times. I've done some slight changes to the original character.

Kalband was born in Shadowdale in the Forgotten Realms. From he was four years old he was every interested in wizards and their ways, and hung around Elminster's tower for hours, just to maybe catch a glimpse of the old mage casing a spell. Unfortunately his parents were simple, poor farmers and didn't have the money to send Kalband to a magic school, nor the guts to ask Elminster if he could teach their son, so they bought a spellbook for Kalband, containing Cantrip, Read Magic and Detect Magic. Kalband used this book as a base, and picked up a trick from Elminster here, a technique from some traveling wizard there and so on. Kalband helped his parents run their farm while studying magic, so the studies went pretty slowly. After some major help from a traveling wild mage by the name of Tranill Ranzard, and 20 years of selfstudy, Kalband finished his education as a wild wizard. He teamed up with a ranger, Dargar Steelbow, and a female thief, (whose name no one can remember because it was so long and awkwardly) and the very different trio went to the local inn to find adventure. *(1)* In a corner of the inn a man was lying, bleeding to death. Kalband was in a 'so what' mood *(2)*, so he walked right past the needing man. The thief, being very evil, didn't even pay the poor guy a second look, and went over to the bar to get something to drink. Dargar, not being too bright and convinced of Kalband's great intelligence, believed that what Kalband did was the right thing to do and part of some superb plan. The thief got her ale, but she didn't want to pay the barkeep the 2 copper that the ale cost......... so she tried to backstab the him. She missed, but gained the barkeep's attention. 'Hey,' he shouted, 'Ryche, there's sumone here makin' trouble'. In a corner a almost seven feet tall, dark-haired, dark-eyed, heavy- built man rose and walked over to the thief. By making use of a Reckless Dwomer, Kalband tried to cast Sleep on the thief in order to keep her from doing something stupid. It failed, however, and she ended up with a rat tail. She attacked Ryche, and he smashed her into the roof and left her in a heap on the floor. Then he returned to his corner. The thief had not gotten enough. She attacked again, and that was her last action. After this, Kalband and Dargar went to get the thief's sister. She was just the same as her sister in every way, the only reason that she hadn't come with the group from the beginning with, was that the two couldn't stand each other. Then the group left Shadowdale, and went for the hills. Ryche followed the group. The new thief was almost as bad as her sister, and left the group when nothing happened. This seemed to trigger an event: Werejackals attacked the three. Ryche handled the jackals quite easily, and Kalband found something out: His daggers were really bad quality, they were made of iron! This was very effective against the jackals, and the group won, no problem. After this, Dargar decided to take a rest, and returned to Shadowdale. Then something more happened: While Ryche was sleeping, Kalband met a forest-creature, and made a deal with it: Ryche for a Deck of Many Things. Both parts agreed, and by the morning had Kalband made himself a quite powerful wizard. Ryche wasn't too happy to be traded, but he calmed when Kalband offered him to use the deck. Wish spells where used to return the deck each time. Dargar did also try the deck, but not with very great success. The thief reappeared, but this time Kalband was tried of her opposing of the group all the time, and fired his most powerful spells at her. In a matter of minutes, the thief was ashes.
*(3)* Now Kalband headed to Elminsters tower, to ask the old mage to teach him some spells. Elminster agreed (after getting a few magical items), and Kalband got spells (see below). After this, Kalband traveled first to the Abyss to challenge his first opponent there ("gained" from the deck), a battle that Kalband won quite easily. Then he went to Baator, and challenged his next opponent, and won just barely, after hours of magical combat. While Kalband was still licking his wounds, another wild mage by the name of Thorgrim the Jerk suddenly appeared and attacked Kalband, seemingly without any reason. Kalband managed to get some distance between his assailant and himself, and started to read a Scroll of Return *(4)*. Just as he was finished, Thorgrim attacked again, grabbed Kalband's sack, and used Kalband's own escape route to get away. Kalband followed, and the two fought again. Thorgrim managed almost to destroy Kalband, but Kalband escaped by teleporting at random. Stranded, without memorized spells, magical items or spellbook, and a mad wizard with enough power at his hands to rule three or four worlds, things looked pretty bad for Kalband. Then, an adventuring party came by. The party consisted by the bard Slayer the Nemesis, the psionicist Teros Ironmind, the druidic wizard Aeron Vandeja, and the kender Silverfoot Quickfinger *(5)*. The four offered to help Kalband.
The adventurers managed to find Kalband's sack and hand it back to him, with great danger for their own lives. When Kalband regained his Deck of Many Things, he used several wishes to give himself a temporary mega-level boost, and entered Thorgrim's dungeon. After a long and hard battle, and with lots of help from the adventurers Kalband managed to win, but both he and the members of the group were in a bad shape when the battle was over. After this, Kalband returned to the Realms.
Kalband looks quite normal, though pretty wild. WILD, got it? He is 6 feet tall and weighs 177 lbs. He has dark brown hair and a short beard, also brown, that covers most of his face. Kalband's eyes are bluegray. Although his hair is usually a little messy, Kalband is quite handsome. He will almost always wear a multicolored, striped- and squared wizard's robe, and a blue, red and green cape.
Kalband doesn't really have a personality........ he tend to change quite rapidly. He will never do any evil acts or give away his property, but except for that, he is capable for almost anything. It would be very typical for Kalband to awake one morning and think: 'I think I want to travel to the Abyss and fight some wizard there today'. He is not at all like Fanholen, he is not childish nor does he have a temper, but he's even more random!
