The Diablo Patch 1.02

(here is what it does)

1. Breaks TownKill and AutoKill.

2. Numerous fixes to item integrity.
NOTE: When the game detects a DUPLICATED item, one of the
items will be removed from the game. A duplicated
item will be destroyed when it is dropped. You will
receive an on-screen message stating that the duplicated
item was removed.

3. Corrects the NULL cell buffer errors and other draw problems.
If you have a saved game that crashes with this error, the
saved game will now be accessible.

4. Fixes the problem with some equipped items not being seen
by other players in multiplayer games.

5. Prevents Lazarus's red portal from disappearing after
leaving his lair.

6. Fixes problems writing to the system registry.

7. Fixes intermittent crash in the Join Game screen.

8. Fixes data corruption problem which could cause a player to
get locked out of Battle.net when creating a new channel.

9. Fixes the Level Advance Indicator remaining on screen after
character attributes are maxed

10. Fixes inaccurate display of game creation time

11. Fixes problem with soundcards that do not support the Set
Format command (i.e. ESS1888)

12. Games shown in the list of public games on Battle.net will
not disappear. The list will be refreshed only if the
user closes and reopens the Join Game dialog.

I'm pretty happy about this patch, especially the bit about removing cloned items. Though i have done a bit of looking into this and found that pre-patch cloned items will stay with you. here, let me try to explain.

say you are a cheater with an item copying program. Before the patch, you got all of this great stuff and gave it all out, cloned of course. now the patch comes along. sure, you can clone items in your inventory, but as soon as a cloned item hits the ground, its toast. This does not mean that you can drop your pre-patch cloned King's Sword of haste and lose it. The patch only detects duplicate items in the same game. It's hard to explain, but i think you get the picture.

anyways, congradulations blizzard! Though it seems kind of odd to include a patch program in your game. Does this mean you were expecting problems? Aren't we supposed to be getting perfect games? :) just kidding. It's a good idea. Keep up the good work, blizzard.
