Normally, Planeswalkers in Magic are relatively boring: 20 life,
no special powers, and that's it.
What about making some sort of Planeswalker for use in a Magic
game?
This file contains some rules to create and use Planewalkers in
play, as the player. With some special abilities, it could turn
the tide of a game.

CREATING A PLANESWALKER
Essentially, the "average" Planeswalker (i.e. normal player) has
twenty life. This is the only characteristic that the player
has. A player can't attack creatures, inflict damage against
creatures (not using spells), or even attack another player. The
rules of Planeswalkers here allow you to do these things, and a
little more.
Planeswalkers begin with 20 Planes Points (so sue me, I couldn't
come up with something better). These points are used to
purchase certain special abilities for the Planeswalker.
Whatever P.P. are left represents the Planeswalker's Life point
total. The more abilities that you get, the lower you starting
life will be; remember that!
- POWER. 1 P.P. per +1 Power (up to a maximum of 4)
The normal Planeswalker has an effective power of 0, meaning
that it deals no damage to creatures that attack it. With a
increase in the Planeswalker's power, it deals damage to a
creature as if another creatures
- ABILITIES. as per ability
Planeswalkers can have abilities, much like creatures do,
involving tapping and using mana to power abilities. There are
several different ones to choose from. However, a Planeswalker
is limited to a maximum of four different abilities.
o Creature Abilities
- Attacking does not cause to tap
COST: 3 P.P.
- First Strike
COST: 3 P.P.
- Flanking
COST: 3 P.P.
= Limitations:
o -1 P.P. per generic needed to use. Cannot reduce to
less than 1 P.P.
o -1.5 P.P. per exclusive mana needed to use. Cannot
reduce to less than 1 P.P.
o Creature Bonus
- +1/+1 to all (color) creatures.
COST: 3 P.P. (cumulative to +2/+2)
- +1/+1 to all (creature type).
COST: 2 P.P. (cumulative to +2/+2)
- Tap: Give target creature +1/+1 until end of turn.
COST: 2 P.P. (cumulative to +2/+2)
= Limitations:
o -1 P.P. per generic needed to use. Cannot reduce
to less than 1 P.P.
o -1.5 P.P. per exclusive mana needed to use. Cannot
reduce to less than 1 P.P.
o -1 P.P. for a tap use. Cannot reduce to less than
1 P.P.
o -1 P.P. per 1 life needed to use. Cannot reduce to
less than 1 P.P.
o Damage
- Tap: Deal 1 damage to target creature.
COST: 2 P.P. +1 P.P. for +1 damage (to 3 damage)
- Tap: Deal 1 damage to target player.
COST: 2 P.P. +1 P.P. for +1 damage (to 3 damage)
- Tap: Deal 1 damage to target creature or player
COST: 3 P.P. +1 P.P. for +1 damage (to 3 damage)
- Tap: Deal 1 damage to each player
COST: 3 P.P. +1 P.P. for +1 damage (to 3 damage)
- Tap: Deal 1 damage to each creature
COST: 3 P.P. +1 P.P. for +1 damage (to 3 damage)
- Tap: Deal 1 damage to each creature and player
COST: 5 P.P. +1 P.P. for +1 damage (to 3 damage)
- (X),Tap: Deal X damage to target creature.
COST: 10 P.P.
= Limitations:
o -1 P.P. per generic needed to use. Cannot reduce
to less than 1 P.P.
o -1.5 P.P. per exclusive mana needed to use. Cannot
reduce to less than 1 P.P.
o -1 P.P. per 1 life needed to use. Cannot reduce to
less than 1 P.P.
o +2 P.P. to remove Tap and instead used 2 generic,
or one mana of one color.
o Damage Prevention
- Tap: Gain 1 life.
COST: 5 P.P. +1 P.P. for +1 life. (to +3 life)
- Tap: Prevent 1 damage to target creature
COST: 2 P.P. +1 P.P. for +1 prevent (to +3 prevent)
- Tap: Prevent 1 damage to target player
COST: 2 P.P. +1 P.P. for +1 prevent (to +3 prevent)
- Tap: Prevent 1 damage to target creature or player
COST: 3 P.P. +1 P.P. for +1 prevent (to +3 prevent)
= Limitations:
o -1 P.P. per generic needed to use. Cannot reduce
to less than 1 P.P.
o -1.5 P.P. per exclusive mana needed to use. Cannot
reduce to less than 1 P.P.
o -1 P.P. per 1 life needed to use. Cannot reduce to
less than 1 P.P.
o +2 P.P. to remove Tap and instead use 2 generic,
or one mana of one color.
o Discard Cards
- Tap: Target player chooses and discard one card.
COST: 4 P.P. +2 P.P. per +1 card (to 2 cards)
- Tap: Target player randomly discards one card.
COST: 5 P.P. +2 P.P. per +1 card (to 2 cards)
o -1 P.P. per generic needed to use. Cannot reduce
to less than 1 P.P.
o -1.5 P.P. per exclusive mana needed to use. Cannot
reduce to less than 1 P.P.
o -1 P.P. per 1 life needed to use. Cannot reduce to
less than 1 P.P.
o +2 P.P. to remove Tap and instead use 2 generic,
or one mana of one color.
o Draw Cards
- Tap: Draw a card.
COST: 2 P.P. +2 P.P. per extra card (to 3)
= Limitations:
o -1 P.P. per generic needed to use. Cannot reduce
to less than 1 P.P.
o -1.5 P.P. per exclusive mana needed to use. Cannot
reduce to less than 1 P.P.
o -1 P.P. per 1 life needed to use. Cannot reduce to
less than 1 P.P.
o +2 P.P. to remove Tap and instead use 2 generic,
or one mana of one color.
o Holding Cards
- Hold extra cards in hand.
COST: 1 P.P. per card above seven
o Mana
- Tap: Add (?) to your mana pool.
COST: 1 P.P. +2 P.P. per +1 mana (up to 2)
- Tap: Add one mana of any single color to your mana pool.
COST: 3 P.P.
= Limiations:
o -1 P.P. per generic needed to use. Cannot reduce
to less than 1 P.P.
o -1.5 P.P. per exclusive mana needed to use. Cannot
reduce to less than 1 P.P.
o -1 P.P. per 1 life needed to use. Cannot reduce to
less than 1 P.P.
o +2 P.P. to remove Tap and instead use 2 generic,
or one mana of one color.
When finalizing costs, round and P.P. points up.

Here are some "basic" planeswalkers that you can use, based upon
the rules above.

Tap: Add (2) to your mana pool.
BATTLE PLANESWALKER -- Power: 3, Life: 16

BLACK PLANESWALKER -- Power: 1, Life: 18

Tap: Add U to your mana pool.

Tap: Add G to your mana pool.
